Just got a new impeller and water circ pump put on last fall and haven't even run the boat in water since. For some reason the boat isn't picking up water to circulate it when it's on the trailer. I have a direct line piped into the pick-up that I hook up to the hose. Nothing is coming out the pipes in the back. Is there something easy I might have overlooked? I've done this a dozen or more times with never a problem.

Is there a valve at your water intake?? Is the impeller pump on backwards??

Make sure your strainer is good and tight. I have had the exact same problem. It will suck in air instead of water.

If you have a perko or some other design similar, a spring has to seal the side of the perko that is the normal pickup point of the boat. If this does not happen, then more air will be sucked in than water.

In other words, air is being pulled in the normal water intake under the boat. Put a piece of duct tape over the hole and try it again on the trailer. If it works, then that is your problem and make sure to take the tape off before you go out.
