I don't know how many of you have seen the "Air Boom" advertisements in Wakeboarding Magazine, but they have painted their whole boat green, and powdercoated some of the metal(tower, rubrails) the same color. What would the process be to change the gelcoat on a boat? Did they just paint the boat??? Or did they sand down the fiberglass and re-do the gelcoat? Has anyone done this?

They probably custom ordered it in that color. From what I understand, changing gel colors is just plain unviable.

you can change gel colors. you basically go at it just like painting a car. you scuff it prep the surface then shoot the gel. after wich you color sand, cut, rub, finesse, than wax. very spendy though

its possible it was just repainted with polyurethane(sp) paint, and yes any kind of gel work is spendy

I've also see full wrap on a boat. Basically the same thing as those advertising trucks, full side sticker to make the vehicle look like a different color with advertisers logos.

Would be good for those who like to change the look of their stuff frequently. Also, good for those who like go with the fads, flames, tribal, etc. Cheaper than a new boat.

It is a new boat sprayed that color and Air Boom powdercoated the parts before install. The boat is a Calabria Pro-V
