i'm considering adding a subwoofer to my boat. I have a Supra Launch LTS. It appears that the place you rest your feet in the driver area is made of fiberglass and has a mat glued to it. I'm talking about the one that is angled, obviously not the floor.

Is this area sealed, or open on the bottom? I'd hope it was closed, for better bass output.

How is the bass output if the bottom is open?

Do you guys just cut an appropriate sized hole and mount the speaker directly to the enclosure?

What coverings do you use to keep someone from putting their feet through your sub?

Just go and buy a JL Audio pro wedge 10". It has a 10" w3 woofer in it. The box has a multi-angle design. Mount two L-brackets on the side and screw it to the kick board with woofer facing the down angle. Have not had a problem with it. It comes with a steel screen attached as well.

i don't want to take up foot space. i would rather just cut a hole in the front footwell, especially if it is sealed on all sides.

Anyone know?

thanks.

you wont take up space at all w/ a truck box, get a 10" in a truck box thats what i did and my foot space is maybe 6-8 inches taken but the box isnt high so when i am just cruising i rest my feet on top of the box like a Lazy boy.

My box is actually off the floor and the surface that points down is actually angling up, so, I have zero lost foot room and have never heard anyone complain they need more foot room.
