With all the discussion around CWB failures here lately, it seems like a perfect time for everyone to post their broken board stories as they relate to other brands. The only other boards I had heard of breaking frequently in the past were the Hyperlite honeycoam - no longer in production, and the DNA - again no longer in production. I'm not trying to start a war here, but this season broken boards seem to be a hot topic, especially CWB boards. If there are just as many other brands failing, step up and tell it so this issue can be put to rest.

TackelBerryies list is impressive allbieite repeditive. Those boards are dated, and wouldn't really be purchase considerations to the average rider these days. I'm looking for failure rates on modern boards.

Oh come on all boards break. To me I look at them just like a skate board if you land wrong its going to brake. Boards are braking due to bigger wakes and bigger air. Also landing incorrectly.

Hyperlite murray honeycomb-inserts popped Obrien swindle-broke after one and a half seasons of learning to hit sliders(very impressive) 04 Hyperlite premier-ripped molded fins off 2nd time on a slider (p.o.s.) 04 Hyperlite byerly-defective can opener snapped Gator ricky g- delaminated (factory 2nd that cost me $50) 03 hyperlite byerly dna-lasted 2 seasons of hard sliding and lots of riding. Its mostly bondo now. The only board I warranteed was the 04 hyperlite byerly. All the others were my fault.

First , I reject the premise that CWB boards are any more fragile than anything else. My son broke a brand new Krown board in exactly 2 jumps.

Do I need to clarify Cliff? All those boards were broken within the waranty period. Top of the line models of the time. What do you consider a "modern" board? Skurfer aside, wakeboards have only been around for 15 years now.

My crew had two boards break this year, I tore the inserts out of a Premier and one of my buddies tore the inserts out of my Krown after it had been ridden about 7-8 times (it was a nasty faceplant). I have an Absolute that has been put through the ringer with no problems and my buddy rides a Transcend that hasn't given him any problems.

I broke my abs. platinum, but I in no way blame the board.. it rocks! Because its such a lightweight board, it loses some structural integrity, and that kind of stuff happens. The reason it broke was because I landed on it bad, putting too much force on the tail section. However, being the great company CWB is, they sent me a brand new 07 under warranty, and had it here in a week with no cost to me.

Tackleberry, Yes... clarification was in order. The boards you listed weren't in the same league as CWB's current line and it doesn't make any sence to compare old technology to boards made today. I'm not looking for the same "How Dare You" question CWB tongue lashing answer either. I'm simply curious to see if an objective look at "ALL" brands proves out that CWB has a higher failure rate. If anything this thread should serve to vindicate all of the CWB followers. One thing is for certain though, there are a few people on this site that are completely beyond capable of looking at this issue from an objective view point.

"The boards you listed weren't in the same league as CWB's current line and it doesn't make any sence to compare old technology to boards made today." Please expalin this. Except for design, the boards are pretty much manufactured using the same processes and materials used today...

Tacklebarry, disagree. Boards manufactured overseas are using differant materials and mfg. process that are not allowed in the states (EPA) restriction do not apply over there. One of the reasons the 07 hyperlite boards are lighter this year.

"Except for design" You answered your own question... Now let's try to get back on track. I'd like to hear from people who have had issues with brands other than CWB failing.

06 O'brien Vision, over rotated grabbed front roll off a double up, cracked crosswise right under the front screw on the left foot. Also cracked lengthwise starting from the same spot.

Designs were changed for performance, not strength. Sounds like you completely missed the mark...This is your thread, and if you want to impose illogical criteria, go ahead. Sorry I participated. Scagliotti - Most board companies just recently started with overseas manufacuting (within the last year of 2). So are we to assume that boards manufactured in 2004 do not compare to boards manufactured in 2006? Yeah, back to topic at hand... (Message edited by socalwakepunk on October 21, 2006)

I agree I personally know of over a half dozen CWB platty's & the marius breaking by the same 3 or 4 riders(that ride daily & hard), HOWEVER on that same note those same few guys stand by the boards they ride & say they will continue to ride em

Have any of you been to a wakeboard company and seen them make their wakeboards over the past 10 years? Have you been in the design rooms and worked with all of the design engineers? If you haven't, then how can you say whether or not they are using the same materials and processes that they used in the past?

If you ride hard and a lot the board is going to break. People say its from the riders doing this and that.If you talk to the pros they break boards all the time.

Weren't you the one that suggested it was a stupid question? Would'nt that make it your opinion? Nothing personal, just an observation. (Message edited by wake_upppp on October 23, 2006)

It's all subject to opinion. I thought is was a legit thread, but that's just my opinion. Even if I thought it was stupid, I would've kept it to myself.
