Radio reception....

we get the worst radio reception in our boat is there something i can do to make it better....

the antenna is one of those flat ones with the two wires and it seems like it just runs up the gunwale all the way to the bow on the port side....

could i just like cut the antenna and ground it to the tower???????

Buy a quality auto antenna and put it on top of the tower. Ground the tower to the block. Run a shielded antenna cable to your stereo.

Or get a hideway or windshield mount powered antenna. I have a little black box one i bought for $25 and it rocks.

Car antennas are grounded on the chassis. You just ground the tower to the block to give you a base that carries right to the water. You probably don't have to.

I use the TT-1E. For the most part it works great. I have it hidden in the front of the boat. Once in a while it will not work as well as other times but it is just the way the boat is turned.

yes the ipod sucks for that but my internet capabale phone works great.

Dude the best thing we did was get a xm radio (roady) and put it in the boat. They are inexpensive (20$-30$) and we get great reception. The monthly service is reasonable at $12.00 and it is due to go down in price once the two merge (xm and sirius). We get good reception out on the lakes that we have been to. No commercials and non stop sports sold me!
