I use Babes and it works pretty good, but have read alot of good things about Hot Sauce. I'll buy it when I run out of babes.

I have both. :P Hot Sauce is a great product, along with the rest of Patricks stuff he has. The Vinyl clear is the best working stuff Ive ever used. When ya have as much surface area as a big catamaran, you dont wanna be fighting all the waterspots.

I love Babes so much I want to freeze it and make an igloo out of it.

Babe's but I haven't used Hot Sauce... Been using Babes for 2 years now and haven't had any issue with any other their products. :-)

Babe's is awesome. They have put a ton of research into their whole product line. The products are all top notch. Our boat goes in and out of the water probably 125+ times per year. It gets wiped down with Babe's boat bright every time. You won't find a waterspot on it.

vinegar and water, cheap, natural, does the job as well.

Shave babes has wax in it. I've tried adding liquid wax to water/viniegar and it doesn't work to well.

I just got hot sauce and was really impressed. I have used water/vinegar (add liquid wax to get rid of the smell), babes, quick clean, etc.

I think hot sauce might actually be a mixture of water, vinegar and liquid wax. It smells very much like my mix.

The only knock on hot sauce is they charge a lot to ship it to you.

Vinegar and water doesn't didn't do squat for me, still got the blasted spots and all. It's Babe's on the new boat only.

Ryan tell me about it, and it took 2 weeks for me to get it. The shipping was as much as the sauce. I'll stick with babe's locally next time.

Where can you purchase babe's?

The foreman of Appearance Group, the people who clean all our planes at work, told me the vinegar can strip the wax. His boat stays in a slip/lift all year and he told me he just uses water with a little bit of Dawn dish soap. Same thing with his interior. He said Dawn is about the most concentrated soap you can buy and has almost zero abrasives. He has access to all the stuff we use on the planes and he still uses the Dawn and water. I'm gonna' take the word of the guy in charge of cleaning the ten to fifteen million dollar airplanes. Also it's cheap.

Babes, I was planning on trying Hot Sauce but at Joes they had whole gallons of Babes for $19.99 so I'll be using that for a while.
Old     (cavlxenvy)      Join Date: Aug 2007       04-17-2008, 8:44 PM Reply
yeah it did take a while. That must mean they are a small operation. Hot sauce doesn't stink that bad but it certainly doesn't smell as good as babes. It cleaned that delta spray off the boat really well though.

Like I had said in a previous post, I have used quite a few products on my own, and for my business. Babes is pretty good, and I prefered it to just about everything I had tried. Then I got a hold of Hot Sauce. LOVE the stuff. I am probably getting either a gallon, or possibly 5 gallons pretty soon. I especially like it first, because it takes the water spots off very easily, but secondly, because it contains a wax, so it puts on a pretty good protective coat, as opposed to having to do it in a second step. Heck, I have even used it on windows too. Just works better than anything else I have tried, and I have tried many different products. Give it a try for yourself. I am pretty sure you will be hooked! Love their other products too!

disclaimer - NO, I don't work for them!

Don't worry buzz, you're the reason I bought some just haven't had the chance to try it yet. It's your neck on the line if you don't like it . I have some water spots on black car I own, you think this stuff will work on it?

i use babes and think it does a great job. it does seem like a lot of people on here like hot sauce which makes me want to buy some, but i like babes for now. i bought babes since its sold at gijoes, or joes, whatever it is now. i would buy hot sauce if i could find it in a store near me

Just a 411 for you guys using Vinegar and water, It is the worst thing you can do to your gel coat. The vinegar strips the wax off of the surface and leaves you gel exposed to the elements. To avoid having to do wipe the boat down and then wax it again try one of the products mentioned in this thread. I personally use Babe's and feel it is a awesome product that is very reasonable in price and works extremely well.

Well put DRA; if you have water spots real bad the vinegar and water takes them off but you need to wax afterward, it will strip you gel super naked.
Old     (etakk7)      Join Date: Apr 2006       04-18-2008, 11:33 AM Reply
I've always heard that dish soap strips wax too

Eric... I like that... "super naked". Ha, ha, ha.

I used to use a 70% water, 20% vinegar and 10% liquid wax mixutre. It actually worked great for the last 5 years. Now were using Babe's and couldn't be happier. Plus it smells like a strip club in Vegas. Mmmmm, Vegas.....

Ah...I'm headed there in June can't come soon enough. As I write this there is snow rain mixed falling.

Babes smells like a Vegas strip club? I knew there was a reason I liked it. With the olfactory system and all...

just got my hot sauce only took 3 days. But kind of expensive $49 for two bottles including shipping. I did not know they were in phx I would have just gone there and picked it up and saved on shipping. Gonna try it out this weekend. Supposed to be 90 degrees summer is here!!

As far as shipping charges for Hot Sauce, look in your area for a dealer. I know I have a few within a few miles of me. Check Boat Babes web site and do a dealer search. That's why I am buying a larger quantity. I can put some in a generic spray bottle for friends. Plus, I use a bunch for myself, and for my business (all their products).

I just got done trying out the hot sauce, this stuff is awesome. The smell is different, not sure how to describe it. I wouldn't say it stinks but there is no mistaking it when you smell it. I was only able to try it out on a dry boat, but left the boat shiny like a freshly waxed boat and very smooth to the touch. Bottom line I like it. I'm sure Babe's is great to, I know it smells better.

hey nu bu, did you find local or did you order online?

I ordered it online from the link I posted above. I like it alot, but since you live around here to you might want to buy some babe's from Bakes marine. You can go to Bakesonline.com and get it for 20% off right now.
