Luke, I have just purchased a 97 Malibu response LX. I got the boat for around $17,000. The boat has a 320 horse Fuel Injected 350 and only has 220 hours. I have shopped around every where trying to stay in this price range. The boat does not have a tower but did come with an extendable pylon. As soon as I sell my old boat a tower will go on. The day I closed the deal on my Malibu I saw a 96 205 Prostar MC in the paper with like 150 hours for $15,000. Let me give you some advice. I had like 10 boats sold out from under me. If you find one on the internet be ready to commit. Good luck.

The 205s would be good choices, you can probably find plenty in that range as you go older.

I got my 1999 MC sportstar open bow with the 310hp TBI with 250 (might have been 200) hours for $17,500 with a zero-flex tower, NEW oil-bath bearing single-axle trailer, and a couple fat sacs. Pic is in profile. Its the same hull as the 2000 X-5, with the same tower too. From what i gather i got a good deal, but you should be able to find lots of used MC's and Malibu's in that price range.

I just got a killer deal on a Prostar 205 for only $10,000! And the wake is awesome, highly recommended boat for that price range. The deals are out there, just keep searching.

Also look at Sport Nautique's... I think you can buy a very decend one for 16k. And the wake is a killer.

Luke,

I bought a 98 Alpina/Calbria open bow with trailer and cover with 200 hours on it for less then $14k. No tower though I have one ordered. It puts out a great wake with fat sacks totaling about 800lb. You can find this type of boat mainly in the northwest. — Good luck!

A friend of mine has a 95 Ski nautique and the wake is great. I have to mention that we fill 3 large and 2 medium sacks - zero floorspace. If extra room isn't a priority, then you're good to go.

flying frenchman, that is a killer deal, how many hours, it came with the tower and everything, is there any custom ballast or anything?

Whoa- an 87 Sunsetter for $12,000? That's pretty steep. I think I'd lean toward a 93 Sport Nautique for a couple grand more...
