I decided to customize my coex... I took a Parko Dakine pad and a dakine leash and I am going to wax it like a real surfboard...

anyone else tried this before?

Make sure that wax doesn't melt off and get on the boat interior in the summer heat.

make sure to use wax for warmer water or maybe even bace coat.
my question why use a leash all it going to do is create drag

we tried once. got wax on the vdrive cover. sucked cleaning off. it also gets in the rubber of the platform pad

Yup wax is all bad on the boat. Had a few different boards on the boat this summer and there's wax all over

i wouldn't be concerned about the drag of a leash but rather it getting caught up around the rider, rope, or prop. anyways, my buddy has a sweet custom fiberglass surfer with traction pads in both the back and the front. that'll ensure you don't have an wax problems.

The leash won't cause any drag issues but could just be a hassle. It doesn't seem necessary as the board floats and won't get swept away by a currents in the lake.

Ditch the wax it gets everywhere!

yes, wax is a bad idea. it might be ok now but next summer when it heats up it will melt and if someone accidently lays it upside down on the carpet or something it will get everywhere.

forget the wax put some pad on it. Leash is also a bad idea, you only really need a leash in the ocean. Your board will never stray to far that you cant swim to it. the custom pads will look a lot better then the stock pad that came with the coex.

also no shuvits with a leash. basically limits your tricks.

joe... thanks for that worthless comment
..."dont wakesurf, go wakeboarding".... give me a break, are you telling me that you haven't wakesurfed before?... its my first deck, im stoked...

Torrey... I guess "real" surfers should get rid of there leashes too, if thats the concept your going to stick with...

I can see how wax might be an issue... keep the board in a bag, pretty simple solution

y post this if you are not going to accept the thoughts of what others think about you basically ask for the opinions of what we all think and then come back with comments like that i mean they arent bad but basically its saying that its your way or the highway not trying t bust your balls or anything but its just my .02
anywho i like the pad u put on it but the wax will get annoying and if u want to try new things on the board the leash will get annoying 2 bu once again just my .02 lol

Evan, take it easy... we're just giving you some suggestions. If it's your first "deck" you'll learn real quick you won't need a leash on a lake or in a river (I wakesurf on the Colorado). Anthony brings up a good point also, using a leash will make it tough to progress into new moves. Either way, enjoy!

Evan, just giving you some feedback. Go out and surf the sh*t out of that board.

Really though? The guy's stoked on his new board, and not only that but making it his own. It's cool to give him some constructive criticism like the problems with waxing and the difficulties he might have with using a leash, but to straight up rip him for wakesurfing 3 posts in a row is weak.

wakesuring is fun.... shuvits on a wakesurfer is lame. buy a wakeskate.

Evan the reason "real" surfers wear a leash is they are 200+ yards out in the surf and if you fall and lose your board it stinks to swim all the way in to the beach and get your board. You don't need a leash behind a boat. Watch out for the wax running on to your seats when it's hot outside as well.

Check the 1260 topic, not even Danny Harf is safe from being ripped on here

Wakesurfing is what you do when the water is so blown out that you don't want to do anything else.

Haha! joe can't wakesurf!

looks good. a lot better than stock.

Swimming for a board sucks period, I don't care how "real" you are. BTW the wave can take your board with it behind a boat too. rock the leash until you get good enough to keep the board with you when you fall.

also, i'd look at gator grip or something similar for the front. You'll want something bigger and traction pad up there.

bigger THAN a traction pad...
