I own a Barefoot Nautique 1988.
This winterproject was cleaning the engine (rust). Therefor I've deinstalled the engine. Now that the project is almost finished I've to reinstall the engine again. It should be no problem but I'm not sure about one thing. The aligment for the shaft. Are there special routines about it.

Any help would be great!!

Btw. Everybody suggest Mobile 1 oil on this forum. The dealer has another brand (don't know which brand, but the type is 25w/40). Is it a good idea to switch to Mobile 1? The engine has everywere new seals, so for the synthetic part it should be no problem.

Thanks Tommy

THe shaft alignment is pretty simple to do. Loosen the coupler where it meets the transmission and slide it apart slightly. Put a .010" feeler gauge in at the 12 o'clock position, slide the coupler and tranny together so that the gauge slides somewhat snug. Then check the measurement at 3, 6, and 9 0'clock positions. It should all be at .010", but you have some wiggle room. As long at anything from .013-.007" can fit all the way around you are good. If it doesn't all line up in these measurements, you need to move the engine to make it so.
