Does anyone else have this problem? Every season my wakeboard rack slowly starts pointing downward from the weight of the boards. It takes a few weeks or a couple of months if I'm REAL lucky, but it eventually flops all the way down. I've tried everything I can think of - any suggestions?

What brand of tower... and what brand of rack do you have?

The tower was made by a local place to fit the boat (FLC Folsom Lake Crew- I think) - and I got the rack from them too. It's like the gripper thing on it just eventually starts sliding.

sounds like you need better racks... I've owned 3 different pairs of racks... the first pair was horrible it was a pro flight... , the second and 3rd pair was awesome.. the loudliquid racks... held great never lended down for me...

If it's a round tube and the mount is slipping you may want to get some grip tape from a local skate shop and cut a piece to stick on the tower crossbar.

Cut the grip tape the same width as the mount so you can’t see it when the rack is re-mounted.

There are a few other options with drilling and getting a setscrew… but try the grip tape first. Also check the bolts often to make sure they stay tight.

Good luck.

Tami, where on the rack do you have it mounted? The plate of the rack should NOT be centered on the crossbeam of the tower. The back plate should be resting against one of the vertical members on one side. Try that and see what happens. If you don't quite get what I mean look for pictures of other board racks to see.

Joel - you rock! I think I know what you mean - so simple yet I never thought of that. I'll see if I can fix it this weekend. That way it can't fall down...

Joel knows what he is talking about, mine are mounted that way and once and only once mine slipped because it slid forward off the upright going through some real rough water. Plus if you move it toward the rear of the boat it will make getting the boards way easier, why does everyone think they are supposed to be centered on the cross bar anyway??
