Need to replace my boats head unit and I'd love some suggestions from everyone since I'm totally out of the car audio scene.

I'd like it to have:
3 rca outs/sub control
MP3 on burned cd playable
ability to plug in my portable mp3 player
Doesn't need to be powered
And nothing super expensive

Please let me know what you would suggest and any places to get a good deal!

thx........

I'm a pioneer guy, the players look classy, are top notch in quality and have never let me down.

This is the sony i just got that fits into your list, i also wanted a non-powered face due to the water concern and the motor possibly cooking cdx-f7715x , got it off ebay pretty cheap. I wanted sony as ive already got a sony wired remote and it works fine with it.

Look at the MB Quart NRA 450. I put one in my Malibu, it has 3 5v preouts. Nice deck, I like it

I had the MB Quart NRA 450 last year and it worked well till it got ripped off. This year I went with the middle of the road Alpine. I think the Alpine has a richer sound. I also use a Zapco EQ that outputs the voltage to the amps to 8 volts

Alpine fan here. Love the way it sounds and never skips

Levi,

I run and like the Sony CDX-F7715X which is about $175 on eBay. I just really like their remote which is why I stick with Sony.

No company makes a MP3, 3 PreAmp Out head unit with a wired marine remote that can display MP3 Song/Disc info, but when one does I think they will build a loyal following quickly. It's got to be coming.

I agree with Travis, Pioneer is pretty solid. I have the DEH-9600MP and I really like it. You can pick one up on eBay for High $300s not sure what price range you were thinking of. There is also a wired remote option which I just put in my boat. It is XM ready, plays MP3s and has three 4.5 volt outputs. It also has an option to connect an iPod.

I a have a Sony right now. I have been pleased with it. Mine did skip so it gave me an excuse to put in a 10 disc changer with 12 second memory and it never skips now. The unit I had before was only 2 volt outputs front and rear. My current unit is 4 volt output with front, rear, and sub and it made a world of difference. But to be honest my next unit will be an Alpine.

Hey Bill (monstertower), im thinking your wrong on this one. The 7715 does play mp3, has 3 sets of pre-outs (2 plus sub), wired remote (im using the access technologies but sony also has one), and it does display song info?? Which one am i missing?

The head unit can display song/disk info but it's in the glovebox. The wired remote is what can not display the song/disk info which would be great at the driver remote.

I heard someone came out with a wired remote that displays song/disk info and if anyone knows of one let us know.

Hey has anyone used any of the Clarion Head units with Music Catcher? This allows you to download up to 6 CD's worth of music into your head unit. Comes in handy if it gets rough or you forget your Cd's! I just picked one up!

Don't the Alpines require an adapter you also have to purchase to plug in an ipod/mp3 player?

Thanks for the beavis entertainment their Cornholio's! :-)

no they require an adapter if you want to control the ipod from the deck. Some of the head units you can just plug in with an RCA and control from the ipod. Controling the ipod from the deck is a pretty nice option, it also charges the ipod while it is pluged in
