I have a little oh**** I need to try to fix. It's too deep to buff and the dealership wants a grip to do it. Any ideas? Anyone try this before?

I filled some old bimini mount screw holes. Worked pretty good.

Check out this article I wrote a while back. It should help you out:

www.spectrumcolor.com

for about $30 you get a one time bottle and they match most colors of new boats.
It's easy to do. Comes with instructions....

Thanks for the info. Its a scratch about 2' long. If it was a chip It would be easier to fix. but a color match is a never match and kind of a big area to fix. I'm concerned about color variations.

Evercoat makes one that you can tint around to get pretty close.

I just patched a ding using the Evercoat system. Worked pretty well, but it was on the bottom of the boat so I didn't really care too much on how good it looked. Just don't use an epoxy fill like Marine Tex and then try to gelcoat over that...the gel wont stick well to the epoxy. For your scratch just use the straight gelcoat. Here's a link to purchase the Evercoat Match n' Patch system.

Call your boat manaufacterer (sp). They can give you the gel coat manufacterer (sp) name and exact color code. I fixed a dock scar on my malibu and you can't tell at all.

Get yourself some real good automotive sand paper (1500, 2000, 4000) grit wet/dry.

You'll also need some cellulose. The clear binder dividers work pretty well for pressing the gel down and getting out any bubbles before it drys.
