I also bought a broadcast for my first board and was happy with it for about a year. Its a good board to have but you will outgrow it and if you start to get hooked on the sport, like most of us do, you will want a new board pretty quick. If you ride with your buddy alot then I wouldn't get the same board--use his and get something different. I think you put it right in saying that the broadcast "does the job" and then that's about it. But for a "cheap" board it does ok.

I've got a Broadcast 5.6. It's been a pretty good beginner board. I've moved on and ride a variety of other boards. I teach beginners on the Broadcast, on one of several Trick Boardz, and several Inland Surfers.

I weigh 220. The 5.6 is about the right size. If you’re my size and have a small wake I'd go bigger than a 4.9, otherwise you'll be OK.

i was wondering about the o'brien alias too. it seems to be at least $100+ cheaper than other wakesurfers. is it ok for a beginner board? it may would be the only one i could afford. is it surf or skim style?

also, newbie, first post, hi ya'll.

AWS (active watersports) the only place to buy.

I ride an Alias but I am a beginner. No tricks just the ability to ride without the rope and shred a little bit.
