Hello all, I'm looking into buying my girl a new board. Here's her stats/ 5'4" 130lbs show size 7. She is a beginner, only rode one time. The first pull she did get up, but went right to the outside of the wake. I'm torn between a few different boards. I think the size is the biggest question. Would a 134 Diva be too much? Or should I go down to a 131 Lotus? any suggestions would be great!

My chicks about the same size and she rides an '03 131 Belmont and digs it. You could go both ways and it wont affect her too much. Remember Dallas Friday is smaller than that and rides a 137. It's all personal preference. When I first started riding I was on a 134 Belmont and never felt like it was a small board, soo, uh, take that for what you will. I'm 6' and 165. Just saying, you could definitely go with either.

"Remember Dallas Friday is smaller than that and rides a 137. It's all personal preference." Agreed. Try to get her to demo both and see which she likes more. If demo-ing isn't in the question, I would honestly say go with the better deal. My opinion is that as you ride you begin to build a personal preference, and before you ride you don't have a preference set. Like... once you ride something for a while you begin to like it and stick with that style board. So go with the better deal, and it's not like your daughter will know any better. If that made sense. Some may disagree though.

Get her a Lotus 131 with the hinge tech torqs or if you want a 134 then go with the CWB Sapphire 134. I have heard nothing but great things about the new Sapphire 134.

CWB Saphire 134 & S/M Ladies Hinge Tech Torqs. Being able to get in/out of binding easily = priceless. (Message edited by socalwakepunk on April 05, 2006)

The Diva is a fun board that's beginner friendly that still offers plenty of room to progress. If you can though let her ride both and see which she likes.

First demo but imo I would tell them to go with the Team or Angel. They are the same board. The 134 angel has really cool metal flake design too. I ride the team and put many beginners on the board. I have had no complaints. I am a intermediate rider so it gives her room to grow. I know pros that ride this board.

My wife rides a Murray DNA 138. She's a bigger, but I think more board surface is good for the beginner as it makes the board plane easier and it feels like less work. I'd say go with the larger board, even a 136 if you could find one. That's just an opinion though, and really hers is the only one that matters. Eric

Buy a 2005 model, some havent changed for 2006 and you can get great prices. I think the Angel would be a good choice...

Man if my wife saw me refer to her as a "bigger" anything...off with the balls. Then again I'm not married so I guess nothing would really happen. Get her the Torq boots, she will love you forever. Girls hate getting in/out and they make it easy peasy Japanesy.

Whoops! Good thing she doesn't frequent this site! I meant to say (honestly) bigger than your girl. She's 5-7 and 130# for those who must know. Good catch Heavy!

I just got the LF Angel with the Mynx bindings. I'm a beginner also, and her height, but a little bigger. I've only got to ride the board twice, but I think I'm really going to like it. The bindings also seem great, but that also could have been because it was sooo cold out my feet were numb and I couldn't tell... I was having a hard time choosing, but am very happy with what I decided on.

Jacob, I have a CWB slayer 132 with either connelly comp size M or Hyperlight 3060's size large that I would sell. I rode the board a few years ago and it is no collecting dust in the garage. I would sell it for 125.00 and split the shipping. any more questions let me know.
