I got a new pair of bindings and untill they break in a little bit i need some kind of lube.

I dont have a local shop, and dont want to wait for a online store.

What do you all use for household lube? Any homemade stuff? I used soap last night but isnt that hard on the lake and binding?

Thanks-

We use hand soap...not as sudsy as other soaps and rinses out fairly quick. I have also used shaving cream, but prefer the soap. Nice to have on the boat too for a quick cleaner. I wouldn't worry about the small amounts messing up your lake and have used soap for years and have never seen a binding 'rot' due to soap.

Use camp soap, it is basically the same thing as "binding slime" it even comes in the same bottle, i think they just slap a different lable on it. And it is biodegradable, so you aren't killing the environment (thats a good thing) We use it and it works great. You can find it at walmart in the camping section.

We keep some watered down bio-degradable boat soap in a water bottle for those with trouble. Very cheap and rinses out fast.

i dont know how to explain it....

I use shaving cream myself. Barbasol or Colgate when it's in the 20% more free cans. I don't use my good Gillete Foamy just for binding lube. In a pinch, I'll use some sunscreen but that's a pretty expensive lube. I only do that if I run out of cream while on the water.

Go to the local dollar store and get some off brand KY jelly, you don't even need to get your feet or bindings wet, you'll just slide right in Plus the stuff is water soluble and doesn't do anything to your bindings. That is basicaly what Duck Butter is, but this works a lot better and is cheaper.

I have always used 50-50 dish soap and water. i try and find the cheapest one possible.

The is NO correlation between soap and Neoprene breaking down. Soap is only in contact with the Neoprene for a short time anyway. I actually contacted PG about it. They make like 10 different brands of dish soap under different brand names.

Get some Glycerol at Eckerd's or Walgreen's and mix it with some water. Almost equal to binding lube and way better than soap.

If your using dish soap it better be enviromentally friendly.

People say it for a lot of them, but most sunscreen DOES have oils that are not good for your bindings. Take a half-third full bottle of soap and dilute....
