I currently ride a substance 136 which is a 3-stage. I chose the 3 stage because my friend told me that 3-stage has more pop. I have ridden my fair share of both. I had a trip and helix which were continuous, and a balance and substance which are 3-stage. Because I would sell my old board every summer, I never had the chance to compare boards and tell the difference between the two. What is the real difference between continuous and 3-state? Does it really matter or is it just a preference? I would rather height than distance.

i prefer a continuos rocker board. three stage rocker boards are great and you can get more pop but for me it was a little to inconsistent. if you ride alot then you may want to consider a 3 stage board b/c you can get used to the board and learn to make it consistent. you mentioned that you have ridden your fair share of both. it should be fairly easy to tell the difference. when ridden correctly the three stage will buck you much higher.

Its just personal preference 3-stage will give you more of a bucking style of pop wich is more unpredictable and continous will give you a smooth consistent pop.Everyone says that 3-stage will give you so much more pop but really it dosent give you that much more pop.I've been riding a 3-stage for two years and never liked it so I switched to the new Temet and really like it but like I said its just what works for you.
