didnt we deal with this same situation about 2 years ago when MC introduced the X1, advertising what we all were used to as the old xstar and x2 witch were nicely optioned boats and now you have a boat under 50g, "to get you in the door" but its f-ing stripped. i dont think they ate there own feedback on that one.in fact they came up with the term price point boat. hey im just calling it how it is but the rest of them were funny and so was the flex.

i never saw a 06 x1 go for any lower than 45 grand. thats what the 05 were going for but with more stuff.

Nothing about the X1 says budget boat. Only in Mc's line is a 55k boat a budget boat, and trust me once you option one out with the essentials its 55k plus. Kind of a bad skit if you ask me and I own an MC. Their prices have gotten out of control even with the "budget" boat that is still identical to my 2000 and hasn't changed one bit except for styling. REDICULOUS

Everyone says MC doesnt know what they are doing and yet the X1,205 hull is the #1 selling hull ever in inboard/vdrive ski and wake boats. Hmmmm
I have 2 buddys that both bought 2006 X1's that were 39999 in 06. They both have since added a cover and bimini for about 1200 bucks. My point is the boats were bought for the advertised price of 39999.

Sounds like a stripped down boat to me....No cover.... come on! Funny skit though!

I think the difference is MC lets you know its stripped down. Thus the stripped down price. The X1 still had cruise control, Ballast tanks, (some high priced other mfg do not) tower, finger style board racks, trailer etc.
Whats crazy is how much boats like Swatguys 2000 XStar still sell for. I bet he could still get 25-30K for his 8 year old boat.

Well, I am happier than a pig in #*@! with my stripped down Nautique. What more do you need than a 210 with ballast, tower, trailer and perfect pass? Hell, I just passed 360 hours.

That's half the fun, building stuff for my boat.

At <$45K for an '06 and support from the best dealer in town, what else do I need? The only other option was a Sanger and the dealer at the time sucked!

For the record, I payed less than $44K out the door for my 06 X1 with swivel racks, cover, bimimini, stereo (it was an option) and swivel tounge trailer. It served me well for the two years I had it.

Back in 06 I priced one at the show.

Back then the standard X1 ballast was a center bag or the rear tanks only. Can't recall which it was missing but it was only either one or the other not the triple KGB which has now been updated to the triple KGB as standard.

Here's what we wanted
Bimini
Stereo
Upgraded Triple KGB ballast
Cover
Swivel racks
Perfect Pass
Tower Mirror
Pop up cleats
MCX
I was at 48k if I recall with boat show discount for what it was worth. I bet I'd be around 60 now

BILLY
Why I still own the boat I do :-) It has been babied and I am sure I could get close to 30k with all the stuff I added and how clean it is. Gel still looks showroom..... Though I am possibly in need of some new carpet. Gotta love the little ones. I just can't see paying double for the same wake I have. Really all I have wanted to do and reason for wanting an upgrade was to change to a 3 piece hatch and an ND tower. That older style is a pain to get boards in an out of, but I can live with it. for 25k more hahahahahah
