I have been trying to get my progressive edge right for a while now, and I think something just click. When I cut back to the wake should it feel like I am trying to get as far away from the boat as I can?

If cut far away... as you cut in you should feel as though your board is cutting deeper and deeper as you approach the wake. By the time you are at the wake you should feel as though your board could not cut any deeper.

I always think about a progressive edge as a clock pendulum when im riding. When its swings it starts and the top and slowly generates speed as it reaches the bottom. Thats how I learned so and I still always have it in my head when I ride.

i learned it like the way you put yuor hand out the car window while driveng and you turn it up and down to move it up and down
well the more you turn it up the harder the resistance is it the same with the wake board cutting aginst the water, sorry its hard to explain without the gesture, but think about having your board turn as much upright in the water as you are entering the wake.

anybody care to tell me wrong... but my perception of progressive edge isnt building an edge till you cant build it harder...
My idea of progressive is setting an edge and holding it... now has you get closer to the wake you need to hold harder, but you don't necessarily need to edge harder, just hold that edge you start with and the air is HUGE... maybe Im doen something wrong and should be goen even higher...

feel free to correct me

I think certain tricks are different.

example:

Backroll,Raley ~ build the edge all the way threw the wake.

spins ~ hold the edge you got.

Feel free to correct me as well.

yes I would tend to agree with that, but what I was getting at, is the progressive edge isn't all about doing the raley style cut, you can be progressive and not go balls to the wall
