buffer always makes wax cake up...help

I really would like to know if there is a wax and a buffing pad for my orbital buffer that wont make the wax cake up when I try to buff it off. Has anyone had luck with the right combinations? Which pad and which wax?

Are you using a foam pad?

Whenever I use a random orbit polisher to remove wax, I always go over it with a terry towel first. A quick wipe with the towel will remove the majority of the wax, leaving only a slight film. This way I can go through as many towels as I want to remove the bulk of the wax and don't gum up the more expensive and harder-to-swap buffing pads.

I apply the wax by hand which is no problem. But when I try to buff it off with the buffer which is fake fur like it cakes up. Salmon tacos...good idea thanks.

That's a buffing pad. You need a terry bonnet for applying or removing wax.

Oops. I guess I meant to say, "terry bonnets," instead of, "buffing pads." Yeah, I don't think lamb's wool or its synthetic equivalent would be very good for removing wax.

If you're using lambs wool to remove the wax, run a phillips screw driver over it while the polisher is running to knock off the clumps of wax. Always let your wax dry well before removing from the vehicle.
