Shasta Conditions? Smokey? Lake Level?

Trying to decide whether or not to head up to Shasta in a few weeks for a last minute houseboat adventure with the family. Anybody have the skinny on the conditions up there? I know it's been super smokey and water levels are not so hot...but wanted to hear from someone that lives there or was just there for the latest and greatest. Thx!

i was there last week. it was pretty smoky and the water was down about 120 and steadily dropping a foot a day. still alot of lake left tho and didnt ruin our time there

I went 2 weeks ago. It's not really smokey at all on the Sacramento arm, but driving over to Silverthorn on the Pitt the smoke was crazy thick. Like Jason said, the water was really low, but we still had a great time. I would go for it.

Just left there on saturday, had a awesome time. There was alot of smoke on friday, when we came out of squaw you couldn't see silverthorn,But other days were not to bad depends on the wind. The lake is dropping a foot a day. Talking to the guy who moves the docks he said they might be in trouble in three weeks.
