Slider question

For a winter project my brother and I are going to build a basic PVC pipe slider. Its going to be an up slant, flat, then down slant you could say. I was wondering when you go up slant to flat is there any way to smooth the transfer out. I would really love a smooth angle. Would I have to cut the pipes or buy attachment pieces. If no one has any feed back should I just hop of the entry to the flat. My brother is worried about banging up boards and stuff so if anybody has any ideas it would be great.

Your gonna tear up your boards regardless what you do, Cut the angles so they touch at the top.. maybe smooth it out with sandpaper when its all said and done.

give trex a try it's a bit more pricey but it's easier to work with and bend imo.

definitely use trex. so easy to work with and it slides really well with out being too slippery.

Still.. plan on thrashing your board. And I would 3rd Trex.

gap the connections a little bit... then you don't have to worry about any edges sticking up and catching your board's edge

Go for Trex PVC will tear up your board faster than trex.

Also maybe just start with a nice long flat bar..

trex is good. I used a trex substitue we got from lowe's at my last event, and it was slippier (sp?) than the trex. Ithink it is cheeper too. i dont know the brand. It has three groves on the bottom and a wood grain on the top.

Trex board for sure is the way to go. I built an A-frame last year, and I used 3-16' sections. it looks big but it is seriously a touch and go once you hit it so I would reccommend using 20' sections.

home depot sells veranda and lowes sells choice decking.. both are great off brand versions of trex.

We are about to build an A frame. would 20 up, 16 across, and 20 down be too short? We already have a 72 ft rooftop like the one on the PWT, but are wanting something to gap.. Any suggestions??

those are good dimentions. I would start with a rise of 4 to 4.5 feet from the bottom of the 20' to the top of the 20'. once you are mastering this gap you can angle more, and increase lenght of flat section

Buy an epoxy or other filler, fill, sand, and seal.

chris, i would say go at least 30 up (esp if you're going to have a 4.5 ft rise) 20 ft flat and at least 30 down. that would be a legit rail. most people would be happy with a smaller one, but if you already have a rooftop that's 72 ft i think you'll be more happy with these dimensions.
