never ridden the absolute, but enjoy my balance 144 a lot. It's a little grabby because of the cupped fins, but landings are still forgiving with a small center fin. Coming from a 141, the larger length and more imortantly width, has helped my confidence improve dramitically.

I just got the prodigy platinum 140. I didn't think a board could be so comfortable to ride on. You can't go wrong with the absolute. I rode the balance a few years ago and didn't like it, but my riding ability wasn't at the same level.

The Balance is going to be a lot faster. They ride very differently with molded vs detachable fins. The Balance is Gregg Necrason's board & he rides with an incredibly hard edge I'm not saying you have to edge like that to make it work but it's definately on the fast side. The Absolute is quick with the fins in but finless it rides slow and deliberate, a more relaxed ride for sure. It will also have softer landings. I love mine to death.

I am starting to love my prodigy and I have had it for 2 days. Landed a huge 360 into the flats off the DU and almost landed a ts 7 today. The conditions sucked with the hurricane to our right. I didnt think the balance was as quick as people made it seem. It felt like I was glued to the water and I had a hard time just getting it loose. This was without a middle fin. It was 3 years ago, and my riding has changed tremendously.
