Malibu VLX Tower speakers and lights

Hi there guys, ive just got my 2004 Malibu VLX and want to put some tower speakers and lights up there!! I have the Ilision tower and i know all the speaker wires and light wires are already in the tower, however i have no idea how to fix either or the lights or the speakers to the actual tower without drilling more holes?? Is there a specific type i need or a special bracket? Do malibu make a specific light and speaker? Please help and any pictures you might have of your malibu with a simular setup will be a great help!!

Danny,

The factory speakers designed for the Illusion Tower are very low-end sound wise. I believe that they utilize Sony components.

Skylon makes two better alternatives and will add a third one within a few weeks. The Skylon Illusion X Deafcon I uses 6 inch Kicker components that sound and look better than the Malibu Illusion X speakers.

You can move up one level to the Skylon Illusion X Deafcon II which uses 6.5 inch Image Dynamics components. You can even use two pairs. Each enclosure can handle 150 watts RMS (600 watts RMS for two pairs) and will really sound great.

In a few weeks, Skylon will introduce the Skylon Illusion X Deafcon IV which includes 8 inch Image Dynamics mid-bass drivers and HLCD (horns). This will be the ultimate Illusion X solution for the 2005 season.

Danny for tower speakers check out Liquid trends, thay have great fiberglass tower boxes and bullet speakers for the Ilussion X tower.

Lightning Accessories also makes nice tower speakers for the illusion tower. www.lightningaccessories.com
They also have some nice board racks as well for the illusion x.

Based purely on driver size I would say that the NVS addiction would be a serious contender for the ultimate solution for the Illusion tower. They are available now, I have heard them, it's the real deal.

When it come's to speakers and motors bigger is better.

Boss towers has also annoucned a full line of speakers for the illusion tower. The top of the line is the X-630 that has a 6.5" mid sub, 6.5" mid, and 1" titanium tweeter. You can also add a second tweeter as with all the 2005 boss seperates to fire back in to the boat for the passengers

What you don't see in these speakers is what makes them the Highest Performing single speaker on any Tower. Behind the center of this mid bass driver is a Titanium domed compression driver that projects directly through the hollow voice coil assembly and the acoustically transparent dust cap.
The Addiction from NVS was designed by, and built specifically for NVS. While they will blow away any other speaker system taking up even twice as much tower space they also are very warm and clean at the swim deck.

I can't remember if I asked you about adding the 5 light bar I kept from my old boat to the illusion tower. I've also got the 2" ball mounts from that set up - will those bolt right up to the rear part of that tower?

That looks like a good way to go, thanks! I'll see you at the demo next Saturday, Tim's got me doing it now too. He thinks having 2 all white Malibus there will be kind of cool. Here's mine ready to leave the showroom and probably the last time it will be this clean! :-)

beautiful boat rich I'm digging the all white. my families all white x star is just sitting over at ski world. Once our old boat sells we will pick up the new one. if the Xstar looks half as good as that malibu we will all be very happy campers.

Here is apic of the new X630's that Boss is making for the illusion tower. It is a 6.5" mid sub, 6.5" mid and 1" tweeter. These ones also have the Array tweeter firing back in to the boat which is an option. Same set up as the prove B530'swith a but the mid is a 6.5" instead of a 5.25"
