I am going to Cabo San Lucas for New Years and was wondering if anyone is going to be wakeboarding down there in the next week.

Thx,
Lyle

There are a couple of Nautiques in the harbor and Andrea Gayton is the instructor. I lost their number. Ask around when you get there.

We have a couple timeshares in Cabo. We go to cabo every year / every other, its a blast... I would bring your gear: board, bindings, vest & rope.

First couple years I went, I paid a guy in water taxi(panga) 20 bones to drive me around for 30 minutes, it was werth it, just to say youve done it. Last couple years I hooked up with a local name Rafael, he has a bayliner with a tower. I will look for his email addy & hook ya up. I believe now there's now a Malibu or Nauty down on the beach / available to rent out rides. This one is usually on the beach in the middle of the hotel zone.

RANDOM / GOOD cabo Info:

Cabo is a coll spot, it's blown up in the last couple years, not nearly as cheap as it used to be but still a blast, you will have a wonderfull time, here is some info broken down for ya....

RESTURAUNTS

The Office - directly on the beach, the spot for daytime chilling, beers, happy hour, drinks, food, etc. The daytime chill spot ( food is EXP )
Mango - next door to the office, very simillar but not as happening but a lil Cheaper
Enriques Steak & Lobster - $9.99 dinners, great deals
Romeo & Juliets - Super nice Itailian in town - get the ceaser salad - they make it at your table, bomb!!!
The Trailer Park - the real deal, don't let the name fool ya, expensive but excellent food.
Brazils - kinda pricey but very cool, 20 differnt kinds of meat on skewers cooked on a open flame and hand carved at your table ( prime rib / chicken / ny steak / fish / etc )

CLUBS

Jungle Bar - outdoor bar below Cabo Wabo / cool place to kick it and grab a drink, you can sign the bar / walls / etc. Good start off spot
Giggling Marlin - Not the most happening spot but super fun if you hit it at the right time, they pull people on stage, involve the audience in drinking games
Cabo Wabo - Has a great cover band that plays 90 -present rock and alternative hits, touch and go on some nights but cool if you can be there w/ the band.
NoWhere Bar - Down by the Marina, Tuesday was ladies night / free shots for the gals.
Squid Roe - this is where EVERYONE ends up, loudest, craziest, wildest in all of Cabo

I would also recomend taking a booze cruise, it runs 20 or 30 and its a 3 hour boat ride in the ocean, around the arches and to the pacific side, tons of fun and cool to meet other people + all you can drink!

Cabo Surf Rocks..If you want to learn to surf that is where I would stay.
I shot a wedding there last September. Aside from the random dogs pissing on your bag I would go there again and again. Here are some of the pics:

We were in Cabo last May. Had a great time surfing at Costa Azul (take the bus to San Jose-cabo surf hotel). Saw a Nautique in the Marina out from the Marina Fiesta Resort.

Lzy, I agree with you. The Office is the best place to chill daytime on the beach. (We had to get used to the waiter bringing us 4 beers when ordering 2- it's always 2 for 1!)

I just got back from Cabo on Dec 9th. Aaron, I don't know what time of year you went but this is what Medano beach looked like in Dec. Not a lot of room for wakeboarding ....
Also, that Nautique in the Marina seems to have been replaced with a Malibu. I saw him in the slip but never out on the water. Good luck with getting a pull but don't get your hopes up. Cabo is getting crazy busy. If I were you, I'd learn how to surf instead.

Sorry I guess I don't have a pic of all the boat traffic out at Medano but here's a pic of the beach ....

Hey thanks for the info guys. Not looking promising for a pull in Cabo. I talked to Rafael and apparently he is in Mexico City this time of year. I have heard Andrea Gayton is down there but no one has directly ran into her. Any info on her where abouts would be cool.

Thanks,
Lyle

Ronia,

Thanks for the heads up, I agree it has definately blown up in the last several years & not the little fishing town it was. The Panga ride was an early AM session, around 8:00 am & the Bayliner w/ Rafael we went out around 7:00 pm one evening. It wasn't butter by any means but very little traffic & a crazy unique experiance.

I spent one day down @ Costa Azul surfing and also used the Mexican Bus System. It was only aroun $2.00 and way cheaper than any taxi - only way to go in my opinion.

In regards to the Malibu/Natique in the harbor they have some LOCAL EXPERTS who post on the tripadvisor forum that maybe able to help out or point you more in the right direction.

Last resort would be to leave a note on the Malibu with your room # - not sure how that would work out?

When I was there last March, there was a banner hanging up in the Jungle Bar advertising wakeboarding pulls. The Jungle Bar is right outside Cabo Wabo. I tried the cell # that the bar gave me, but didn't get ahold of anyone. Then one afternoon we were sitting outside the Mango Deck, and I saw a bayliner with a pole on it. I waved him down and he gave me and my girlfriend a couple of pulls. The gear and wake sucked, but it was a really cool experience. The guy with the boat was the owner of the Jungle Bar. He didn't want any money for the pulls, but I think I gave him about $30 anyways.

One other thing, which is common sense unless you've been sitting on the beach drinking beer all day, is use a reliable source to purchace your activities. We got ripped off by a guy working out of a small office near the Mango Deck. I would recommend spending a little more through the Hotel for things like parasailing, jungle cruises, etc.
