Hey Rich, I rode behind Tate's 215 over the weekend and I absolutely loved it! ...Richard, you should bring your boat down to Crawdads on the river for Cinco and party with us!

Grant, you going to still want my help for boat beats? I am hoping I'll still be in town. I have some interviews coming up. **Fingers Crossed**

Anyway, the offer is still on the table.

Robb, do you do structured cabling?
Old     (boarder_x)      Join Date: Mar 2006       05-03-2006, 9:55 PM Reply
I do CAT5e. I have gone to the class for fibre, but never actually connected anything. We are moving that direction, but you know the state. Mollassas moves faster.
Old     (attila916)      Join Date: Oct 2005       05-03-2006, 10:00 PM Reply
It is all about the CAT6 limited combustible now...
Old     (boarder_x)      Join Date: Mar 2006       05-03-2006, 10:07 PM Reply
Ya, but like I said I work for the state. The guys I work with would not be happy having to learn CAT6. We are doing gig tested 5, and now learning 10 gig. Haven't used it yet either. ... This is why I need a new job. I'm an engineer. I like to learn things. ... I'm stagnate in my position.
Old     (gunz)      Join Date: Sep 2001       05-04-2006, 5:18 AM Reply
So is it done?

Or do you need another 3 months?

Perhaps it will be done by Boat Beats.....Oct 7th?

LOL.

Robb: yea I still want your help with the Cat-5 set up. Im got all the cable. Just wanted some help testing the line's I saw a fancy Cat-5 line tester for $1000 that does a print out of the line quality test. Pretty cool.

Old     (boarder_x)      Join Date: Mar 2006       05-04-2006, 2:51 PM Reply
Don't spend money on a tester. If you want the cables certified, which you shouldn't need, I have one at work. .... If I'm still working here. All you really should need is a cable tester. i have those too (If I'm not working here anymore, I can still borrow one I'm sure). You just need something that says the cables are connected properly. certifications are only needed when you have things like servers. If you really want a tester, get the Fluke Networks "MicroScanner Pro." That's what we use for everything except gig speed certifications.
Old     (attila916)      Join Date: Oct 2005       05-04-2006, 2:57 PM Reply
The high-end cable testers are just used to verify the structured cable contractor didn't splice crap in the ceiling and run a 400 ft. run... All you need to do is verify that your pairs are not crossed.
Grant, what are you using the CAT 5 for?
Old     (attila916)      Join Date: Oct 2005       05-04-2006, 2:58 PM Reply
I know this thread is off topic, but we need something to do while we wait for pics!

... It's sorta on topic. The topic moved to whether or not Grant would be done for Boat Beats. Grant needs help setting up for Boat Beats. ....

Oh, and I was killing time waiting for pics!!!

Attila, I responded to you. Let me know if you didn't get it.
Old     (yosquire)      Join Date: Jun 2005       05-04-2006, 6:59 PM Reply
I used to install Cat5 and fiber, I've certified quite a few cables. Those damn certification units are more 'bitchy' (or maybe precise is the word) than one would think, they make you go back and redo the punch downs you screwed up, or didn't do very well. (Argh) What? Quality workmanship? nah.

All-in-all, if the computer comes up and runs on the network, the cable is fine. The average user will never see a performance degradation on a 100 mbit cable while connected to a 3mbit internet connection.

I think we're not seeing any pictures because Clay is off day-dreaming about a black and pink Malibu. haha..

or he's trying to remember the difference between 568A and B.

Craig, I've had to re punch some cables, but certification wasn't the problem. I had the oranges and greens, or greens and blues crossed. They wouldn't have passed no matter what. ... Running cable for 9 hours a day, one gets complacent.

Hey, where did you install the speaker on the passenger side? I'm struggling on if I should put the fourth speaker set into the panel or in the carpeted space under the seat like the rears.

Hey Richard,

How do you like the Fosgate 6.5's? I was thinking I like the look of them, but how they sound is more important. Are they comparable to the polk MoMo's?

Richard- Boat looks sick with all those leds in there. He takes a little while to get the job done but it is worth the wait IMO, once you get out there on the water and listen to it and know you are not going to have any trouble makes it a lot more enjoyable.

Nice job Clay, another clean install job!

Wow.....I love these Sound Illusions installs.

On the flip side, it reminds me how inadequate my stereo is.

Great work and Richard, I bet you are chomping on the bit to get that out on the water. Did you run it last night and wake up some neighbors?

Look forward to your pics later today.

Interesting that no one answered the question above about why Wetsounds, not NVS. It will be interesting to see if Sound Illusions starts moving to more and more Westsounds tower speakers.

Thanks for the install pics! That is inspiring!

I noticed that too. I know I've been nothing but impressed by mine. NVS were great, but the wetsounds had a few other features that really appealed to me.

Hey Thanks to all that enjoy the work and pics that we do over here, I appreciate it alot. As for the Wetsounds...well Richard just wanted to try something different then everyone else, and were pushing about 350 watts to each one.

Richard, I'm curious to hear your feedback on them...especially with 350 RMS per speaker. or was that a typo and should haev read set?
Old     (grant_west)      Join Date: Jun 2005       05-18-2006, 2:40 PM Reply
Yea that Boat has got some "HUMP" It almost got Clay evectid from the "Install Compound". If You wanna know who's in your complex at 10 o clock at night? just fire up 2 15's with 3000 watt's of bass going to them and you will soon find out who's working late. BOOOOOOOOOM.

The Idea with Richards boat was to "TRY" to match some bass with the ever so powerfull/popular HCLD speaker's. Bass at 70 feet in a boat is not very common. Most people running 2 12's have plenty of bass in and around the boat but 15's have the ability to throw a bass note a bit further. Richard give us your feed back when you have had a chance to ride behind your boat with som bass pumpin.

Richard IMO you boat needs more LED's so bring it back

kenny- that was one of my big concerns... being a sanger owner you obiviously know that they tend to rattle a bit anyways... i had mentioned that to clay once he started tuning the system, i havent noticed and rattling at all just sitting in the boat, that could also be due to the fact that the subs over power the rattles lol... at this point there hasnt been a need to do anything yet.. the true test will be chilling in the boat at low volume..

thanks e.j.!! lmao

I think when any boat is as new as Richard's the rattles dont become apparent for some time. Stereo or no stereo you windshield becomes loose and thing's tend to need to be re tightend. A big stereo some times speed's up the process. So if somthing is loose your gonna know about it. I woundnt say that a big stereo makes things come loose. I would say It help's things that are loose come loose faster. After some time on the system Richard can get all the loose things tightend down and it shouldnt be a problem. All boats are diffrent in the construction and Im not aware of one piticular boat comming loose faster than another. On my boat the side trim pannels tend to come loose over time. I guess its because the bolts that are screwed into them have a insert and they cant be or shoulnt be cranked down. No big deal either way. A small price to pay for haveing a pumpin system.

What amp did you use to run the 4 pro80s? I just got a pair my self and need some amp advise. My Zapco 500.1 heats up to fast and wants to go into safe mode, they say its 2ohm stable but the fan comes on pretty quick.
