I'm riding an 05 142 byerly now. The middle of the board on the underneath is starting to split so I sent it off today. I've been thinking about getting a new board. Its between these two? The only inverts i have are tantrums and backrolls. I liked the speed on the byerly but it just didn't have much pop. Which one of these would u guys suggest?

if you like speed, stay away from premier...it's super slow!

the 06 Murray is a BLAST. It feels sticky like the Byerly when straight, but as soon as you set it on an edge, it gallops. It would be totally different from your Byerly, but I think it's one of the most fun boards out this year

I HATED the 2006 Murray. Rode it this weekend and it just felt bulky and I felt like there was no speed to the point it was like someone was pulling the board behind me. I switched to the 2005 Premier and that board just rocks.

I am with Paul, However the board felt really good at 24 mph, just a little faster than I like to ride. AT 22, I was working really hard.

I thought the Byerly would have a good amount of pop to it. can I suggest one other board? maybe try the 3ds? the 139 rides a bit longer than it is. I ride the 135, and I think it has better pop than my premier. definitely faster. although, my fundamentals are a little bit better this year, so that could be why I have better pop now...

one more thing, I'm a little heavier at about 225, so any other suggestions on any other boards would help as well. I have liked my byerly, although I just feel like its not popping like it should. My favorite was the old byerly before it had the cut-outs.

Subjekt has tons of speed? Compared to the Murray i'd agree. Other then that, a Subjekt is slow! Wont touch a TFD at all.

with all due respect, if you can't get your byerly to pop the way it should, i'd look into your fundamentals before looking into a different board.

I think anything is faster then a Murray but I don't really think a Subjekt is faster then a Premier.

The 05 byerly i think is lacking the pop because of the cut-outs. When you hit the wake its almost like it has a delay vs. other boards I have had. I do like the board, but am ready to get back on something without that (delay) that I'm talking about. I'm wanting something with speed and alot of pop. I've heard great things about both of these boards, propblem is the only HL dealer here is not gonna let me try out anything. So I have to make a decision without riding if I choose a HL. Look at the other post of "boardshops and customer service"

3ds has speed, and a ton of pop for a non 3 stage. I believe it is a hybrid. (sorry once again for having no opinion on the two boards you are actually looking at)

The 2005 Premier is slow, but has great pop. The 2006 Premier, on the other hand, is a lot faster than the 2005. If you are coming from a Byerly, you won't be happy with the pop of the Murray. I would say go Premier or Era, if you are restricted to Hyperlite.

My brother in law rides the Byerly(05), still learning how to board but the one thing he can get is a sheet ton of pop on his jumps, only thing is he doesn't know what to do with it yet..LOL

I think the new Murray is slow because of the increased rocker they put on it this year. I did have to up the boat speed but when I hit the wake going up is like butter, landing in the flats doesn't even bother me tlike it used to.

thomas I'll look at the 3ds. I'm not a hyperlite only guy, I'm pretty open minded. I always start with hyperlite I guess because its the only thing I've ever rode. Thanks for all the comments

if you're open minded, then i suggest you demo some cwb stuff, too. absolute and marius come to mind. check 'em out! if anything, at least you'll know if they fit your riding or not.

I'd definately say go try the Premier and the Era, the 06 Premier definately isn't a slow board in my opinion, the new absolute on the other hand is the slowest board i've ever been on, if you're going to try CWB I'd say go with an older version of the absolute (not as slow - Flame I think)

Has anyone else rode the 3ds? If so what do you like about it and what did you ride before? Also the reason I'm thinking about the 3ds is because its a 143. Obviously I'm heavy enough to spit a board down the middle! This is the second board that has split on my by the way. My last Byerly (I think 03 or 04 model) broke in half on a tantrum when I landed. Is beaking 2 boards normal? lol
