Have a JL e6450m and a Clarion APX480M amp to mount - where is best place to mount them to keep them dry and cool? Leaning toward next to batteries in engine compartment for short power runs - and I figure amps should stay as dry/cool as batteries - does that make sense? Both are marine rated amps. I have a 2000 Larson 226 SEI with huge aft engine compartment and lots of room.

Thoughts/comments on where you guys have your amps greatly appreciated.

Also, anyone have a link to sites/info on making amp boards or amp access/orientation/wiring for best tuning?

Thanks for any/all help guys!

I sure am no expert on the subject, but I'd be careful mounting them in the engine compartment. A friend of mine had his two amps mounted in his engine compartment and they kept over-heating because of the engine heat in the enclosed space. Anyways, just my $.02

Most amps get mounted up near the head unit behind the kickboard in front of the driver or on the other side. Ventilation and close to the head unit are key. Make sure they are mounted in such a way that they cool effectively, boat amps get hot.
