Just booked a weekend at the Lake Amistad Lodge on April 25th weekend. Has anyone been there? What do I need to know about the lake? I don't know anything about it other than the pictures I've seen are beautiful.

I live in Del Rio and ride Amistad every weekend. My advice would be to hit up Rough Canyon. It's a little farther of a drive but it's well worth it. We were riding out there on glass this weekend when practically the whole lake was white capping. Del Rio's a pretty boring city but the lake is amazing. If you have any questions, just hit me up

Thanks for the info. From Lake Amistad Lodge, how do I get to Rough Canyon? By boat or road? Been to Del Rio several times, but this is the first to take the boat. We used to hunt in Comstock. I've also heard of Satan's Bend. Worth checking out?

You can get there either way but it's a fairly long boat ride from Amistad Lodge. I'd recommend driving if your boat isn't already in the water. I'm not sure about satan's bend (I think it's part of rough canyon), I've never been there. Here's a lake map with directions to rough canyon. If you don't feel like driving all the way out to Rough Canyon, you can always find good water some where.

Enjoy your trip.
