I put my boat in storage on the first of November in a barn at the local fair grounds; three months later I had go and check in on her.
Actually I’ve been itching to get started upgrading my ballast system. The stock system includes two 22 gallon hard tanks in each side locker and a buried center tank, which I think is also 22 gallons, might be larger. So I went to the fair grounds to see what I could fit in the side lockers and under the bow. Looks like the 20x20x50s will work in the trunk. I’ll squeeze a locker sack under the bench and order some custom bow sacks.
I also took a look at how the stock system is plumbed. I traced the port tank circuit. I’m sure the starboard and center circuits are the same. For now I’m omitting the bilge circuit.
I want ballast for both wakeboarding and wakesurfing. For wakeboarding we all want balanced left to right ballast and 40/60 front to back ballast, but for wakesurfing highly unbalanced left to right ballast is needed. I won’t fill the side bench locker for wakeboarding.
The stock system takes awhile to switch between wakesurf regular and wakesurf goofyfoot ballast. The new system will have even more ballast to shift from side to side and will take even longer. To reduce the wakesurf reconfigure time I’m planning to cross connect the left and right tank purge pumps, so the pump emptying the left tank will also fill the right tank (or the other way).

I really won’t be able to get to the boat until late March or in April, in the mean time I’ll order a few parts. Dang, I hate winter.
