I'm in the process of putting speakers on my tower and I am wondering if I need to install a 10" sub under my console as well. If I don't put a sub in I can save some $$ by a less expensive amp as well as the cost of the sub and materials. Will the sub make that much difference as far as boating music goes? Just looking for some opinions. chad

You don't need it, but its a nice addition. You can always add it later when you get some cash saved.

The sub definitely makes it sound better. I had a 10 in my boat and didn't feel like it was enough. If you have the room go for a 12". I love mine.

there's never a "need" for subs. but, once you get it, you'll wonder why you didn't get it before (even for your car). listen to your kids. just remember though; with any sound system, it's quality, not quantity.

Sub it up, depending on your taste of music and usage of radio though. If you spend a majority of time talking instead of listening to the radio dont bother, or if you listen to garbage such as classical music theres no need either. Also don't expect to hear the bass or low's while riding, but it sure makes a dif. in the boat.

You have got to be kidding me. I strongly disagree with anyone who says you don't need it. Whats the point of listening to your favorite songs if you can't feel it. Secondly no one wants their ears ringing from nothing but treble, you have to even things out. Gotta have some bass.

Bass just shakes your boat to peice's takes up way to much space and cost's to much money. Just throw up a pair of NVS speakers on the tower and forget about it.

I still don't get the point of tower speakers. Every boat I've been in with them (3), including 1 very high-end system sounds like crap while riding and isn't even worth cranking it up for a rider. A "quality" system as stated above will rock your boat with 4-6 good speakers, amp and a good sub if you plan on coming close to blowing out your speakers. Ah, what do I know, but I'll choose a new wakeboard over stereo equipment any day.
