Hello everyone,

Do any of you know an effective, yet safe, method of removing sticker residue from gelcoat? I'm having a heck of a time removing my old license stickers, and have a lot of gunk left over.

Thanks for your help.

I took off all my stickers on my boat and used a half-a-can of "Goof off". I thought it worked the best out of others.

I used Goof Off and terrycloth towels. The residue will build up in the towel so it helps to keep fliping the towel to a different spot.

Peanut Butter, put it on and leave it over night. The oils from the peanut butter take it off and it does not harm the surface. O natural...

mineral or vegetable oil.
Works great. put on, let soak about 10min and the sticky crap rubs off. Then use soap and water to clean up.

Uhhhhhhh, clear coat on a boat? I'm pretty sure it's not going to rub thru 1/4" thick Gel coat.

Lift-Off.........spray can @ Homedepot. I have a business where I get paid to remove stickers. Nothing works better / also try a little heat.

Thanks for the responses everyone, this discussion board is awesome for gathering information, and I'm grateful for your help. I went with the "Goof Off," and it worked great. Fortunately, I did not have much to clean. I installed my new Domed Numbers, and they look pretty sweet. I'll post pics on the Domed Numbers install thread.

Thanks again.
