O.K. all, I've read all of the this boat vs that threads. I'm a beginner wakeboarder with a family of four. I want to move from my I/O into a "crossover" boat on a budget. My choices have boiled down to 99-01 Wakesetter VLX, TIGE 21V, or 01-02 Mobius LSV, all equally equipped(PP, ballast, tower, racks..). Without starting another boat bashing thread, could those of you who know offer your advice. Thanks in advance.

That year, the Wakesetter is pretty nice to ski behind. However, I would ride behind all of them before deciding and pick the one that fits your riding/skiing.

Kids are into everything(skiing, kneeboards),so I'd like to be able to cut the wake down. I'm the only one who slaloms, but I prefer to wakeboard. Just want something roomy and versatile, time to improve my boarding.

I still Slalom, and Barefoot don't think I'll stop any time soon.I went out on a Moomba a couple of months ago, the wake was decent for us non pro's.Once he sped up it laid down enough to slalom & enjoy yourself.Personaly speaking I'll be looking to buy one late this year. Jerry

Can't blame you for that. What did you think about the low gunwhales/seat height? I was in one a few months ago as well, felt like I was sitting on the floor. Otherwise I liked it.

I agree,I went to the boat show yesterday & forgot to look to see what if anything could be done.Try to get Slalom & Wakeboard pulls behind the boat you decide on before you buy.I don't know how old your kids are but if they are real young you may not want a LARGE wake.

It's only 8 hrs from me. But, he lists it as a V-drive, it's a DD. Thanks for the input.

Of the 3 boats you listed, the only one I've slalomed behind is a 2001 VLX. My friend had one and they used it as a family, multisport boat more than a hardcore wakeboard boat. I thought it had a good recreational slalom wake at 30 and above. I've got a 98 Elite-V, and the slalom wake is comparable to mine, but his was maybe just a tad softer. The unweighted wake was fine for tubing, skiing, etc. Obviously, with wedge and weight, you can make a great wake when you want it. His did not have the wedge.

Boarding wake is more important to me than slalom wake. I guess I mad a mistake using the term "crossover". I really want something that has a mild-esh wake for the kids activities, and a board wake that is good enough to progress on. I don't want to buy a wake specific boat in a year because we outgrow the wake. Sounds like I'm on the right track.

I agree with Psudy. I have an 01 xstar/X2/now X1 and with no ballast it has a great ski wake for a v-drive

The old Mastercraft 205V/ X-2 / X-Star / X-1 (2006) is the way to go for a crossover boat with a great wakeboarding wake. My father runs the slalom course with it, and I weight it down and ride behind it. This boat has proven itself time and time again.

Haven't looked at many of those. Most I've seen are a little over my budget. I'll do some more checking. Thanks for the input.
