Adding to Preston: A 'trick' is to flip the pump in the next anticipated direction. For example, if filling: When you are done, flip the switch to empty for a couple of seconds. This reverses the impeller vanes so there is a little less work to do from the start of the next cycle. Also don't start them all at once (don't flip all 3 switches at the same time), but sequence them. Bump your RPMs up to about 1000 to make sure you're pushing good power to the system. If you don't know how an impeller pump works, open up the end cap and check it out. You'll understand how things might get bound up in there. Plus you can see if all your vanes are intact.
