Help me decide on a color for the new X-2 guys!

I need some help from my wakeworld friends! I have a choice between two boats and I am torn. I really need some help! I like them both equally!

1. Solid orange (Spy Optic Orange) from the rub rail down (even the bottom).

or

2. Solid white with a small red stripe at the water line, and another small red stripe above the rub rail (solid white for the most part). The white boat also has the polished stainless rub rail and the depth finder already installed. All of the other options are the same.

The orange boat is loud, which I like! The white boat will never go out of style whether I sell it in one year or 10. I'm thinking the white gel coat will look better for a lot longer also. Less likely to show wear and tear.

Any suggestions guys?

J-rod, I would say white. I think you will grow tired of the orange one. Oh ya what is your new e-mail.

I dont know both sound good. I did see the Spy Optic SAN in Alliance and loved the colors on it. You might get tired of them is the only and MC's always look good in red and white.

The orange will hurt you if you decide to resell it down the road.

j-rod, can't go wrong with the all white. Hides the waterspots better, not totally, but better and with a little red accent, the white sounds like the better choice IMO.

Im sure the orange looks tight but I would go for the all white. I think its a real clean look and its always in.

I would personally get the orange, but it's so noticable, I ride in the bay so the cops always sit there and watch out for the most attractive boats. So if you do one thing wrong you got yourself a ticket. You should go with white.

What shade of red is the stripe? Pro tour red or Viper red? We almost bought a white one that had the viper red stipe below the X-2 decal. I like your white version better. Go with the white.

The white boat looks exactly like the one above except with an additional red stripe on the hull line just below the X-2 Graphic.

I was gonna suggest the all white back a couple weeks ago but I though you were set on the orange one.I agree the orange one looks awsome now but the color like that might get old after a while,while the white one is always gonna looks classy.
As far as the water spots.....once you clean a boat with alot of color like that orange one or like a blue one like mine,It shines baby and looks CLEAN!

I am a big fan of white boats because they don't fade as much in the sun. Plus, they clean up easier.

Orange is cool today. But, for resale, you will have 10% the interest -- its going to cost you a few thousand, IMO.

Sorry, I am not an orange kind of guy. I would go with black if I wanted to make a statement, but I would never go for anything but mostly white down the road because my boat lives on a dock in discovery bay.

Still, if orange floats your boat, go for it. You only live once!

J-Rod, Both are great colors, white is timeless, interest for orange could fade like the color will in time but you take care of your boat so go with the color you want, it's a really hard choice but it's one that you need to make!!!

How long do you actually think you will keep this boat? If you plan on having it for a LONG time I would say white, but if not, have fun and go loud with the orange.

White allows the lines of the boat to speak for itself. i think the all white looks good on the trailer but even better in the water. And root c they are anything but boring especialy if your going with the two accent stripes. Correct me if i'm wrong but i thought i heard that the white one is already over at ski world and the orange one is still being built.

Matthew: That is true, but I'm trying not to let availability affect my decision. The orange boat is only 1 week away.

I definitely won't be getting a new boat every year. This boat could be around for 4-5 years. If I knew I was buying a new boat every year, it would be the orange one without question.

Question: does anyone else have the stainless steel rub rail? I'm curious on how they hold up compared to he standard plastic.

I personaly would go with the orange, it is stand out and a statement on the water. The white is a safe choice and more appealing for the masses when you look to sell it. The stainless rub rail is awsome looking but do not hit anything with it. It does not hold up to bumps and docks. Once it is dinged it shows, the reflection of light seems to make it stand out. I was going to change out my rub rail, but quickly changed my mind after seeing one that had a few small dings.

People with white and red X-2's are pimps.

Definitely go white! The orange will be like all those people buying the yellow cars right now. They're hot right now and people love them but in 3 years or more, NOONE will want them and you'll be screwed when you try to sell and upgrade. But honestly either way you go, you're gonna be the envy of everyone around you to include ME and my '96 Stingray I/O !!!

I think the stainless steel rubrail is tough looking and was looking into changing mine.The dealer told me it was gonna cost me aroung a $1000.00 so I'm waiting on it a little but definetely didn't know if it dings too much,tho that might change my mind.I guess I'll see Evans or yours when you guys had it for a while.

What about hitting your trailer guards a little when you put the boat on the trailer,will that ding the rubrail??

When I bought my boat, the dealer had an X-2 in the show room that had black strip at the rubrail, orange middle and a black bottom. It looked sick!! I went with the red in the middle but the black/Orange boat really looked good! Here's a pic of mine to give you a bit of an idea of what it would look like. I'll see if I can dig up a pick of the orange one I took.

The stainless does not hold up like rubber or a hard plastic. Stainless is not a plyable material. The finish of the stainless is unquestionable. As far as the trailer guards I think it would hold up for the general light bumps in trailering. It is something that is going to take some additional care to keep looking nice.

They both look good. I'd go with the white only for resale value.

or go with this if you don't like the black bottom. It's in red but just picture it in orange. Black around the rubrails, orange middle and a black stripe. I almost went with this one as well.

One Holloween roles around and you will wish that you chose white. Trust me I know, my friends have a orange Malibu. White is sick and clean. Hope it's the pro tour red, I hate those dark reds- aka maroon.

I also like the orange and black hull x-2 above.

I have heard from a few sales guys at different dealerships that the gelcoats scratch when loading and unloading on the trailer and that colored bottoms show the scratches.

Based on most of the responses here, it's safe to say that if both of these boats were used, and up for sale in the classifieds, that the white boat would sell much faster and would likely remain in better condition.

This is only the wakeboarding market, which typically favors flashy colors and bling. How about the market for family boating? For resale, not only would I limit myself to the wakeboarding market, I would limit my potential buyers IN the wakeboarding market.

Personally I don't like the all white boat. I think that would hurt resale more than a boat with a bright colour. I think if the colour is done tastefully then you should have no problem. Green or lime green is the only colour I've ever thought you'd have a hard time selling.

When you see all the fleet vehicles going up for sale or auction they're always white and they never have any decent options on them. To me they look cheaper and they never get as much money on resale as a vehicle with some colour. I think the same way about boats, I'm not sure if everyone else does though.

I wasn't sure if I'd like the orange when the dealer talked to me about it. In the picture it looks ok, but in person it REALLY looks good. I was quite surprised.

The dealer here in town had a lime green Tige at the boat show a couple of years ago. I thought the colour would grow on me, but it didn't. It just didn't look good at all.

I like green cars, some green trucks I've seen. But green boats are out!

I watched used boats a long time before I pulled the trigger. Personally, I wanted a unique boat that had a colored deck and hull, or one that just looked really sharp. I wanted either orange or black in the color scheme, red and blue were also considered, but anything that looked good was considered as well.

From what I saw (these were SANS), the boats with the nice color schemes sold faster. Granted, these were well chosen schemes (Orange, Red, Black, etc.). I had my eye on an all white with black stripe. It was a very clean boat, but I never got that hot on it. When the boat in my profile pic came up, we bought it within a week. We did not wait at all.

I have no regrets on the boat at all. Yes it shows the scratches more readily, yes it shows water spots and requires more waxing and wipe downs. But the thing is, you look at the boat, not at the scratches. I have gotten a ton of compliments on it, as did the previous owner. People who don't have ski boats ask about it, people who don't have boats ask about it.

If you really like the orange, then do it. you are the guy who comes home each day and sees it in the driveway, or looks at it from the shore. I really don't know who would buy a Blinged out X-2 for anything else but boarding. It's a sporty boat, give it a sporty paint job and throw some individuality into it. I saw an all fluorescent green one for sale that looked absolutely incredible, who'd a thunk?? It ain't for sale anymore.

On a side note the white one is pretty dope as well, those boats really look good no matter what. If you are worried about getting hassled by the man every time you go out, you are doing something wrong anyway.

it's is basically the same boat steve hahn posted but with a red stripe instead of orange. I think that looks really sharp.

J-rod I have the stainless package on my Tige 21i and I love it. My rubrail has held well and it really sets it off.....I have a white/platinum 21i Limited and I love it! Of course the nice HUGE teak platform helps that also! Good luck

I changed my mind. I think you should go with the orange. You seem to dig it. It looks sweet. And, being overly practical sucks.

BTW, I think the black/orange boat pic posted by Pat is fugly. Yet, I think the orange accent boat pic posted by Hahn is sweet!

Ok heads orange and tails white. How is that J-rod. I would get the one that throws a bigger wake.

The full orange is much nicer than the black and orange -- stay away from black if you get the orange.

J-Rod, I have seen a few solid white X-2s and they looked killer. I can speak personally of orange, my cousin used to have an orange VLX, it was just orange on the main stripe, but was pretty hard to take care of. The orange also shows fading a lot more than white. Either way good luck on your boat.

If you are looking for something that will hold a higher resale value, go with white.

But personally I like the orange because it is different than what most are trailering out there. Just keep it waxed and off the beach and the orange will be sweet!!

You should buy the boat you want to keep/drive/ride not the boat you want to resell.

In the end, all boats depreciate like mad. You are buying fun not an investment.

I still like the white boat better. I think the orange is really cool, but if they can't do it all orange (like the Dukes of Hazard), then I wouldn't sport it. I really like the white with orange stripes, but that's not an option. I also really like the stainless rubrail. We'll see how it holds up. We loaded mine on monday in the wind and did the double-bounce off the trailer guides. It made an ugly noise, but didn't leave any marks on the rail. I'm going to get trailer guide pads anyway, though.

White, it just looks clean and is definelty unique on a wakeboard boat.

For what it's worth, I'd go with the white. While orange is the hot color right now, think about the last lime green boat you saw...

Now if the solid-color hull was red, blue, yellow, or black --- that would be a different story.

On the other hand, if you just love the orange and don't mind losing a few $$$ when you get tired of it or it goes out of style and you get a new boat, go for it!

I think Lime green looks pretty hot. I think Pork Chops has Lime in his ride. Go for the orange...you know you want to! I would if I had the money to do it...then it would match my truck. Remember...beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.

In the end, get what you want and don't let anyone tell you what you should like. It's your boat, you have to live with it. Unless you're going to flip it in a year or so don't worry about someone not liking the colour you're getting. I'm thinking that you're buying the boat for you and not someone else who may buy it in 4-5 years.

Pat has a good point...you are buying the boat for you and not the guy buying the boat in 5 years,though on the other hand they will throw the SAME wake and have almost all the same options.

It is your decition and what ever you go with will be DOPE.I say go for the one you really,realy want and if that means losing a little value down the road,so be it,it will lose value anyway but not nesessarly will it lose value more.

I realize that. Just looking for enough comments to sway my decision one way or the other. I like both boats and will be extremely happy with either.

Here are a few pic of the red and white one. The upper and lower stripes are bigger than I thought. I definitely wouldn't call this an "all white boat." I think it looks really sharp.
