I took the Recruit out a few days ago and I couldn't figure out how to "load" the board. I think I was just shifting my weight to the tail when I was getting to the bottom of the wake. Also, it was really rough, and I have never ridden a board that was so difficult in rough water. Is this normal?

If you take a regular progressive edge the board will load along with the rope. As you pop off the top it will release and kick you. I've not ridden the Co. but have ridden the Slingshots. All you need to do is really emphasize your progressive edge and you will be fine. Thats the good/bad things about flex, if you have a good edging fundamentals it will work well, if not, you better learn it or the board will not work for you.

what heavy said for sure. I find a lil more knees bent during the cut to lower the center of gravity helped me when trying to get used to the loading of the board. Dont back off your progressive edge and you should get booted. Double ups are the best! That said I ride Slingshot, same idea though

I am going to try it again this week. Thanks guys. Some of the problem was probably choppy water/new boat/no ballast/not the right speed.

on average it takes about 3 sets to get used to new boards, especially flex.

i would not sweat it much, have fun and things will surely come
