I have about an 1/8 inch rip in my seat is there a product I can use to mend it?

Super glue will keep it from getting bigger. Use a needle to apply it if that is the way you choose to go.

primarily for leather, but can also be used on vinyl

here is another one - this one uses a heating element

I have several non-stress areas that have small tears. I know the tubes of stuff from the auto parts store don't work. Has anyone tried one of these type of kits?

use the superglue for now then find a local guy who will repair a few of them for $40-50. you'll never knwo they existed.

If you're as anal as I am, you won't like the looks of the repair if you try it yourself. If you do plan to have it fixed, I don't recommend any stop-gap measures (e.g., superglue). Anything you put on it now has to come off when it's repaired.
