I am looking at buying a 98 mobius and was wondering if they throw a good wake. I have never been behind a moomba before so anything you could tell me about them would be great. I have only been boarding for about a year so i need something that i can get better behind but dont have the money for a pro level wake
I had a 98 Mobius direct drive for 5 years before trading it in for an 04 Gravity Games Supra SSV. I had no problems with the boat at all. It is an excellent quality boat regardless of what people who have never ridden in one say. I also rode a lot behind my friend's 2001 Malibu Response LX and another friend's 2003 Malibu VLX.
For learning how to get big air and do basic invert tricks, you will be fine. Just make sure to weight it properly. I took out the back seat and replaced it with a "Fat Seat" ballast. I also had a 400 pound ballast in the walk-through.
But if you can afford it and only do wakeboarding, I recommend getting a V-drive. The wake is amazingly larger and easier to launch higher off of.
My brother in law has a 99.I test drove it with him, basically went to pick it apart.I couldn't,it was really nice.Drove nice, excellent wake w/ ballast tanks, lots of power.Passed every test I could throw at it.
