I'm looking at a 2000 mobius LS from a private seller. it has 210 hours and is very clean, with all service records. The owner is asking 16k.

Any thoughts?

The boat has no tower, factory sound system, single axle trailer and factory ballast system

And I was also curious as to how well moombas hold their value in comparison to the Mastercrafts and Malibus, correct craft, etc

and I think he'll be throwing in a pylon a board, skis and tubes.

At the way the economy is going i would only buy a boat in excellent condition for the suggested low retail price according to NADA. The low for that boat only with the options you listed is $13240, and that is with the trailer. As far as holding their value...Moomba not as well but better than others, but it being a 2000 the hit has already been taken and Moomba's rep is improving.

Byron,

that does seem like a pretty good deal, But it's in Sac town and I'm in indianapolis. I was trying to stay local so I could get test drives in. Isn't it a bit of a gamble to have a boat shipped accross the country before you even see it?

I'd go look into a Mastercraft Pro star 205, about a 97 year. I have friends with new v-drives and a friend with a 97' 205 and i love ridding on the 205! the boat is solid and the wake is clean. He does not have too much weight but i would not change it. not only that but its freakin awsome on gas. I'd rather have an older 205 then the moomba your lookin at

Sorry Jack I didnt see where you were from in your profile but that is just something to give you an idea. I had a boat shipped out here from Illinois a few years back and it worked out good, but with gas prices now id think it would be a little too expensive?

Jack,

I have a 2000 Mobius. This is my 4th season with it. I have been very happy with it. I am not into doing inverts and stuff and enjoy surfing as much as anything. I still like to slalom ski too so the direct drive serves me well. That said, I'd look for a deal because it is definitely a buyer's market. If I were trying to sell my Mobius right now I'd be happy to get 16K for it and it has a better stereo, tower and board racks, bimini top, factory cover as well as brand new interior.

Hope this helps,

Jman

PS: Does the boat you are looking at look like mine in my profile?

Great looking boat Jman, very clean.

Jack, we love our Moomba. Its been a total trouble free rig for us and we couldnt be happier with it. You might try going over to the Moomba forums if you havent allready? Lots of good info there and im sure some others with the same rig your looking at.

Oh and FWIW, I had a early 90's Sanger DX and it was an awsome boat. Any of the mid 90's DX's throw a nice wake and ride great, but most arent open bows if that something you must have.

jman,
this is the link to the boat we are looking at.

http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/boa/792850077.html

and if 16k is too much for this boat, what would be a good deal on it? the owner said he could not go lower then 15500

Thanks Byron.

Jack,

I would not pay more than NADA low retail, which is about 13.5K. In a different market, it would be worth more, but that is all I would pay today. I looked at boattrader.com and in your area there were a couple of boats that looked pretty good. They were at dealers. They were a little higher than your range, but you could make low ball offers. The season is winding down and they don't want to sit on these boats all winter long.

He needs to sit on it if he "can't" go lower than $15,500 and try and sell it in the Spring. If the boat had a tower and aftermarket stereo system, etc. maybe $15,000 TOPS.

Are you sure that is the right link? Looks one year older and same price.

Jman
