I just bought an X-star. I have 2 600lb sacs and about 300lbs of lead. What is a good way to load this boat? I was thinking of putting the two sacs in the rear lockers, the lead in the nose and haveing a few people sit up front. Do I need to buy another sac? The stock wake is nice, but it is a little smallish. I was thinking that for if I fill the sacs then when my wife and beginners ride, I can just let the tanks empty and they can ride w/ just the sacs, then fill the stock ballast back up when those that are better want a pull.

well you should fill up stock. Then add an additional 600 in the bow usually lead, then anywhere from 600-750 on each side of the motor.

when i had my xstar i had 2 600 lbs on each side of the motor, and a 400 lb sac in the bow walkway under the bow filler cushion along with some lead under the bow seats. unless youre gonna have more than 2 people in the bow you will probably want more than just the lead you have or try and put the lead as far forward as possible in the bow and the weight will have the same effect as more weight

i have 2 600 lbs in the lockers, 2 side sacs in the nose and another 600lb in the middle then people. if there is only me and driver we put another 2 sid sacs in the middle of the boat.

( i have to use sacs coz i have to unload it every timeother wise i would have lead in the middle )

So I have heard that you buy the X-Star and you don't need extra weight. Not to hate but I have never rode behind one and for the price it seems like it should do the job without extra weight. Can someone post factory ballast then weighted ballast? I should have my first pull behind this boat this year and then will have a better understanding for this Wakeboard machine.

600LBS in each transom storage locker another 600 lbs in front of the back bench seat, two 600lbs in the center walk way and 600lbs in the bow. 600 x 7 thats 4200lbs and then add your 8 to 10 people then the ballast, beer and the wake is huge.....Almost as big as a Malibu wake.

Joke, joke someone had to.

Thanks guys,

I think I will try the 2 600 lb sacs in the lockers and a 500lb sac in the bow walkway. Should be plenty w/ 8-10 peeps. Thanks for the advice.

Standard ballast is perfect for beginners only.

For a pro-level wake you need and additional 2000+lbs.
We have 2 x 825 in the side lockers and 2 x 240 under the front seats. Plus about 300lbs in lead to ballance.

we got to ride with aaron rathy and the hyperlite rep this summer and they threw two sacs in the back lockers, one up the bow, and one in front of the back seat plus about seven of us in the boat. im not sure of what the weight of the bags were but, it was good enough for rathy to throw the biggest 720 ive ever seen off a double up. the wake was a fatty.

2006 Pro Tour MC X-STAR BALLAST SET-UP
TOTALS 3,800 lb. W/O fuel and people!
----------------------------
Factory ballast on a 2007 MasterCraft X-Star = 800 lb.
One center tank: 300 lb.
Two rear tanks: 250 lb. each
(WaterSki Mag. 2007 boat buyers guide)

Additional Ballast all plumbed:

(2) REAR SAC: (EACH) WEIGHT: 850LBS
(2) FRONT SAC: (EACH) WEIGHT: 400LBS
------------------------------------------------
The PWT will also manually fill a Custom 500 lb. Fly High Fat Sac that fits in the walkway that sits comfortably in front of the bow close off door.
This sac is put up there b/c they usually do not have people sitting up front during competition.

I would like to see those 400lbs front sacs. Mine are special shaped and fit barely under the seats. They are 240lbs each. I do not see how you could get 400lbs in there...
My next X-Star I will get an extra couple of 100lbs by getting the big-block engine. That engine will also push that weight through the water a lot easier.

There was a post about 1-2 weeks ago and it full explained some crazy wieghting options people have used....

The wake with the PWT setup, plus 300 lead and sac in mid boat area and 5 guys is scary looking!

Mike - we have a similar ammount of wieght as you have.

We place the 2 600's in the back lockers. I split the lead and put 150 on each side under the 2 front seats towards the front. With a couple of folks in the back plus stock the wake is sick (for us).

Of course, you can add more; much more as you see postd above - the wake is big enough for us though, and we still see ok gas consumption with the MCX.

I've never weighted my x star nearly to the extent that some of you guys are but seem to have a problem where the bow is super low and thats the last place we start to add weight. Do you guys ever have a problem with water coming over the bow from other boats wakes or you own? also what is the recommended prop to be running with all this extra weight?
