anybody got one?? i live in a college town and with the way gas prices are going i'm considering one to cruise to and from class.

good investment? how much maintenance do they require? do they have to be registered? would i need insurance?

I have a Honda metro 2006 (college too)

I've had it since new and spent $.00 in maintenance --- ZERO

I get about 100mpg - park at bike racks - I have it registered just to not have to deal with cops but I see a ton w.o and they don't get bothered.
I had insurance for a year, then figured that if I crash i'm hurting me/the moped not much else so I pulled it.

I would totally get one, I don't know exactly abuot the ruckus besides it looks more off-road-ish

Honda's are bulletproof... i love mine.

Check with your state statutes or call the DMV. In Missouri, anything with less than 50 cc is a "motorized bicycle", doesn't require insurance or registration. The Ruckus is only 49 cc so in MO, nothing is required but again check with your state or hire me to do that for you (I looked quickly and couldn't find a straightforward answer). Great idea to purchase one as similar scooters get 80 mph and can go up to 50 mph (downhill...with a tailwind).

It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission so go for it.

It would appear as though Alabama is more strict than Missouri and requires, well, everything.

I have a close friend with a Ruckus and he loves his. Typical Honda product.

There is a decent aftermarket for the Ruckus too.

I have had a Ruckus 49cc for awhile. Just fill with gas and turn the key... not much in the way of maintenance... oil change and check coolant.

We have two of them. Best money spent for running up and down the hill from the property to the beach. I had one at school as well. worked great for getting around campus, especially when I was on crutches. They are very low service. Change the oil every couple hundred miles or so. Other than that fillem up and ride.
