I wouldn't have ever said it lands soft. I'm on my second one now. I traded the 138 for a 142 because I didn't think I'd still be walking if I kept riding it. The bigger board is way better for me.

Ridden mine for a year and I wouldn't describe it's landings as soft either.

Like landing on concrete in bare feet. Just sold mine (which was Evans 138). Thanks alot you bastard. j/k

Landings on most of the CBW boards put it to shame.

jrod you aint kidding, my first and only real board was a 03 tfd because the landings were supposed to be soft. I got a good deal on a 03 absolute platinum and it changed my world....everything i throw is bigger, smoother, and landing softer. Flats? no prob. Two feet more pop? no prob. Having a hard time clearing the wake switch? not anymore and lets grab that cab 180 too........my .02

I wouldn't say it lands soft, but everything has it's advantages and disadvantages. I feel more confident in my landings when I can stomp it down and feel it. I guess I'll be kicking myself later.

Maybe not soft but I did not find the landings to bet harsh either. Sweet board any way you slice it.

I've only ridden my new 05 Substance twice now but I don't find the landings any harder than on a Hyperlite Premier or Motive. What I really like about the board is the speed, pop and how easy the board breaks loose when I want it to.

Coming from the Premier the Substance lands much softer in my opinion......

I also went up from a 138 to a 142 and believe me the difference is night and day.
