I just bought an 05 Mastercraft X2 and oppted for the new Mastercract cruise control instead of paying another $1000 for Perfect Pass. Anybody have experience with the new cruise contol? Did I do the right thing? What do you think?

It operates the same as PP Basic Cruise. It simply controls engine rpm. Only you can say if it fits your needs or not.

Brad,

So far mine works pretty good. We're only in break in mode so I haven't ridden behind the boat yet. It held the correct speed through turns and it worked well going against the wind in some pretty rough water so I'm happy so far... We'll see Saturday when I take my first run behind it though.

Thanks guys, I will let you know. Can't ride for a couple of more weeks cause I blew out my shoulder. I do have experience with Perfect Pass and thats what I wanted, but the Mastercraft cruise control came standard with the 350 engine.

The mastercraft cruise control has a speed mode as well as engine RPM. The speed mode works off of a paddle wheel speed pick up just like the perfect pass. The biggest difference is perfect pass has two numbers you can adjust for how quick and hard it corrects for errors. Mastercraft doesn't have these adjustments available to the driver. I think for most skiers and wakeboarders the cruise system will work fine. The upgrade to perfect pass is a lot cheaper if you have criuse since the boat already has the servo on the throttle and the paddle wheel sensor. I have perfectpass wakeboard pro on my 2004 X10, it's for sale in the clasified section, 98hrs $47,900. I have driven the X45, 197, X10 2005's and a 2006 X30 all with MCX engines and cruise, it worked fine but we were not pulling riders. I'm going to try the cruise in my 05 X10 for a while then decide about upgrading to perfect pass.
