Am looking at a 94 Echelon, open bow, 454 EFI. Would this be a good wakeboard (with weight), and also slalom boat to start out? Is the wedge available for this boat? I'd assume any universal tower would fit. Is this a good quality boat? Thanks for the input.

The Echelon is a great boat if you want a do it all boat. Weighted properly the boat will put up a great wake with similar shape to a VLX. Also, it will stay clean past 75 feet back. Just make sure you weigh it properly. The best configuration I had was a fat sack on each side of the engine box and a tube sac up the bow. This also helped keep a lot of the seating available. As of quality it is excellent. This is the boat that Malibu started with to incorporate a lot of their current technologies. The only draw back I was to it was it is a fairly low profile boat and when sacked down just like any other direct drive it gets cramped. Yes it can have the wedge attached. Sorry for the rant. Hope this helps.

The boat throws a awesome wake probably one of my favorites from the older ski boats. I have three friends who have had them and all of them are great boats. Two of them sold them and don't really ride much anymore. The other I was just out on the other day. He runs a fat seat in the back and tube sac in the nose. The wake is big and rampy. Please DO NOT put the wedge on the boat. The wedge is a total waste of money and will ruin a awesome wake. The boat quality is very good as well. I was riding on his boat at 80 feet and probably 23-24 mph. You will love the boat I would definetly buy it.
