I'm swapping out our stock ballast (400lb) for a bigger one (750lb). Both old and new are Fly High Pro X sacs. Anything special I need to do, or just unhook one and hook the other up? My only concern is will air get in and how do I prevent it? Does it matter?

I just replaced a 250# hard tank with a 750# fat sac yesterday. Easiest piece of work I think I've ever done. Assuming that all of your fittings are the same and that they will be in the same location, you should be able to re-use everything. Pump should be at the lower rear of the sac, with the fill being on top at the rear of the sac. Vent line should be connected on the top on the forward part of the sac. That way, the vent is the last thing to become filled with water, and you can dump the sac almost completely empty, since the aft part of the bag is always lower (bow of boat higher than the back of the boat). The first time I filled the new sac, there was quite a bit of air in there, but, of course, it goes out the vent line while it is filling). This should not be there in subsequent fillings. I also noticed that with the engine running, my starboard side tank was picking up a lot of air in the fill line from the exhaust bubbles, and therefore was filling slower than the port side. When I killed the engine, the fill cleaned up and was solid with water. Guess I'll be filling them from now on with the engine off.

OK, so I went to replace the factory ballast in our 07 Outback with the Fly High Pro X 750lb sac. Problem is, the factory hoses are too short to use with the bag, as it is not as long as the factory one. What is the best way to splice the hoses to make them long enough? Any suggestions? Also, the connections on the factory bag are on the ends of the bag on both sides. The new bag has the connection on the top on the starboard side. Does this matter? Thanks for the help....

I had a problem with short hoses on my 07LSV when I put the 750's in the rear. I bought a few feet of 3/4 hose from home depot and a few couplers and clamps.

This has worked perfect for me, for less than $20.
