Hi everyone! This is my 1st post here... I want to start boarding next summer, so I'm buying gear now while I can get stuff cheap.

I already picked up a set of LiquidForce Exo bindings off eBay, so now I just need to find a board...

I had my eye on a LiquidForce Search or Rhythm. However, I was wondering how the different board manufacturers compare? I race mountain bikes in the summer, and I know how bike manufacturers compare, and I know there are major differences in quality, etc... So are wakeboards the same way, or are all teh makers pretty much the same?

Can anyone suggest any good beginner boards that would compare to the LF Rhythm?

Thanks for any info!

-Jeff V.

In my experiance once you go with one of the bigger brands (hyperlite, LF, obrien, CWB, etc.) it is all about personal preference. Most poeple I know ride one of the aformetioned brands. As long as you are not buying it from walmart or sportmart you should be fine. Read some reviews on ths site for board choices. good luck!

i personaly fell that hyperlite makes the best board on the market. go to a board shop and pull down a rythem then get a hyperlite belmont. just check out the differences for yourself. if you can, try to ride any board you can, and find the board that you like the most. to me the rythem would not be a great beginner board, due to not much rocker (that is the amount of bend the board has) try to find something with a little bit more rocker. this will make the board sit lower in the water, and track better, making it easier to ride.

More rocker will also give an inconsistent pop which is bad for a beginner.

Well, i live in Ohio, and I honestly can't find a single shop that carries any wakeboards. Some boat places carry them, but they don't know anything about the boards, so they arent any help. Plus its off season, so most places already put stuff away.
