The bolt on one of my racks snapped from out of the aluminum clamp. Anyone know how to get a new part to fix the rack?

Thanks

Joe

That would be a stainless allen head bolt that broke right? and the part is still inbedded in the other half correct? If that is the case you might be able to simply unscrew the part that is broken right back out. If not a left handed drill and easy out should solve the problem, or simply tap it out in the opposite direction. Replace all the bolts as the most likely reason that it broke was because of over-torqueing.

Unfortunatly that's not the case. The actual mount broke ... I have attached some pics. I'm lucky the whole rack and boards didn't fall off and smash the boat. Anyone know where I can get a replacement or know anyone on here that was part of BOSS?

Thanks

Joe

Boss' phone number is 916-631-8933. Ask for Jen. Their customer service is great on issues like this.

Looks like the machining got a little too thin or the hole that is on the rack is too big (because of the convex dishing happening at the bolt hole on the clamp). When you get a new one, I would add a washer between the clamp and the rack that fits snug around the bolt and spans the hole on the rack.

Good luck.

Looks to be a manufacturing defect. There should be more meat to the part of the mount that the bolt grabs. It just looks too thin there. heck, the second one is well on its way to failing.

I got in touch with Boss and they are having me send back the complete board rack. They said they have never seen an issue like this before.
