My old HL Premier 140 doesn't do surface tricks well because it's so hard to break it loose. Removing the center fins fixes that, but then it's too loose for me when cutting into the wake.

I rode a LF Fish and liked the way it broke loose but you still have control cutting into the wake.

Are there any other boards with similar characteristics? Also looking for soft landings for my ancient knees.

What years is your Premier?

Try the CWB Transcend. It's lets you adjust fin length instead of depth. The changes are less drastic, and you can run fins on only the edges where they are needed.

jeff, if you liked the fish, you'll definitely love the new shane w/ the smaller cupped fins.

I think the Premier is a 2001.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check 'em out.

CWB Absolute. Plenty loose without center fins, but still holds a good edge due to the long molded fins. Landings are not as soft as the Transcend or the Marius.

No doubt!

I agree with Tim, but if you think the 2001 Premier is not loose enough w/o the center fins, you'll be in the same boat with the current Absolute shape. It's very similar in terms of the molded fins department.

i don't think he said it wasn't loose enough w/o the center fins.

Okay. I screwed that up. Go ride or something Joe!

Neverdaless! The current Absolute and 2001 Premier are very similar in terms of fin/edge hold imo, and experience.

"just waiting for the kid to finish cleaning the kitchen"

NICE! I would be happy if mine would stop destroying the house.

See if you can demo an O'Brien Natural. Or you can just do what I did, trust people's reviews about it, and buy it without demoing.

It has four small molded fins on each end plus a great bottom shape that holds an amazing edge when heading into the wake but it also breaks loose insanely easily for surface tricks. I still cannot figure out how they made it to track so well and break loose so easily. (Oh, and I just learned how to do a raley on mine!)
