A mid-bass speaker in combination with a coax is not the same thing as a coax and a component.....

Thats' a Polk Audio db6750 (component) and Polk Audio db675 (coax)

The component gives you tighter midbass, and external crossover with separate tweeter.

At one point it was popular for Boss, Fusion, Bullet and others to mix coaxials and components. No one put a great amount of analysis into it... It was just unique.

But you don't see it much anymore. I don't agree with mixing two types of fullrange tower speakers that have a different sensitivity and different power handling. So I wouldn't ordinarily mix on the same tower coaxials with components coaxials with HLCDs, fullrange 6 1/2" with fullrange 8" and so on. A symmetrical approach will be more efficient and more effective.

A: Because they needed to fill that hole with something. It's really a component tower speaker with a coax bolted on as a sidecar. Pretty lame design in my opinion. I would rather just see two of the same coaxials and nothing in the hole. I would expect efficiency issues to negate the majority of the benefit of adding the coaxial at all.

I don't think the idea was LAME, it was a good way to get some better mid bass on the tower. I had that setup back in 2003. They used Planet Audio and later they made a change to Polk. I had no complaints. I know Bullet sold a ton of them.

I did not see any benefit and did not understand why they did not put the second tweet below the first on the bottom of the same braket. The two speakers in it now have different rated power handling also.

Weren't the Skylon Deafcon III's 2 set's of components. They had 2 mid bass and 2 tweeters if I remember correctly.

In my opinion - all car door speaker tower speakers are lame

My tower speakers are used for the rider.

Stewart, that's a nice looking setup. Probably sounded very good inside the boat. I would be surprised if you could hear much of them while riding.

That was a good lookin' set up. Most of the current emphasis seems to be on S.P.L. Rather than clean tower integration.

Bullet's compact HollowPoint HLCDs and spun aluminum pods make it easy to achieve both. Powdercoating is still reasonably priced and quick, plus its super durable.
