Is Mike Todd the only one that has gone from the XMD-1 or XMD-3 to the New CMD4, I had asked in another thread but didnt hear to many opinions on what they liked or disliked about the CMD-4.

I like how the new CDM-4 has the Rotory volume knob, but wanted to know what other things people liked or disliked, Thanks Grant

I've been on Mike's boat and seen his CMD4. I have the XMD-3 myself. His setup is awesome and I'd trade up to the CMD4 in a heartbeat. I've had trouble with splash on mine (burnt one out). Mike has his installed behind the throttle on his 02 SAN and it seems to do really well with spray. It also has more outputs and controls for amps. I heard it with his system and it rocks! BTW he has an ipod hooked into it too.

I just replaced a Pioneer in my boat for the meer fact that it is water resistant and has alot of flexiblity with outputs ect.... The manual for the stereo is another story, very poor explnations of controls functions, fortunately my friend owns a high end shop that helped me fine tune it and it performs great so far. Today however we noticed a little mold growing behind the flip down panel,u have to be careful not to rip the water barrier seal while cleaaning it. I just hope it holds up in a boat where fun is the rule, not being uptight about every little scratch ect... We shall see.
Seems to be good for the money.

I just upgraded from the XMD1 to the CMD4, the only problem was that the CMD4 footprint is smaller than the XMD1 so I had to make an adapter plate to cover the old holes. I purchased an adapter plate directly from Clarion but since it was bigger than the XMD1 footprint it wouldn't fit where the XMD1 used to be on my SAN so I sent it back and made my own.

As far as the functionality I love it; the rotary volume knob is much easier to use. I have two amps; one drives my boat speakers and is fed from the front CMD4 outputs and the other drives my tower speakers and is fed from the rear CMD4 outputs, so if I want to pump more sound to the tower speakers (and the rider) I just use the fader knob right on the front of the CMD4.
