Good Morning All!
Does anyone know how to get more Horse power out of a PCM 330 Excalibur? Im looking to get approx 15 more Horse Power?

That engine is pretty efficient for a 5.7L. Would a different prop get you there?

I was thinking of changing the prop but then i would lose topend, so if i could add approx. 15 Horsepower then i could get what im looking for with out jepordizing the Boats top end

Why do you care about top end...Are you barefooting or just putting unjust stress on yuor motor.

what are you trying to do that a new prop won't solve? 15 more hp is about 4-5% gain and where do you want it (low end top end?)

Little NX kit with a 50 shot never hurt a small block V8.... Hell give it a 100 shot.. sac it down...

Prop changes work wonders.

You won't get noticeable power increase from anything you bolt on. No substitute for cubic inches and compression imo.

just buy a jet boat if your worried about top end! there is no need to go over 25 anyway!

Jarrod is 100% correct, you'll never notice an extra 15 ponies, if you want to get out of the hole better the prop is your friend. Give ACME a call, nice guys , very helpful.

you could get a low-end prop with a higher cup. should give you a little more top end than a normal stump-puller type prop.

50 shot = head gasket job

a mild torquer camshafts might help, but I doubt you'll want to do that.

Be careful about the year of your boat and what you bolt on from a warranty standpoint. It can also change engine calibrations that work with the computer system and give many engine alarms/warnings.

an other vote for an Acme Prop. I had one on my old boat, gained a lot of hole shot and kept my top end.

ACME...

I changed the prop on my sanger. Gained hole shot and picked up a few MPH on top.

Great hole shot with 1800 lbs and was still just shy of the 50 mph mark on my Sanger 210

you may have to play around with a few props. We went through 2-3 props before we found the right one. Now we've got great holeshot, and we were able to keep the RPMs below 4K at riding speed. It's going to depend on the boat, how much weight you run nomally. Different goals through, we've never been interested in top end.

Jarrod,
i usually run approx. 800 LBs of ballasts and i usually have 3 adults and 1 child in my boat, i spoke with the boat manufacturer today and he recommended a 3.5" x 16" prop i checked my prop today and this is what is on the boat right now. so i think i may need to go to a 3.5 x 15 or go big 4.25 x 4.25 to blow out of the water(HoleShot)

Craig, you need to put more air into the cylinders to get more hp.
You can do that by increasing displacement, or changing the cam, or chemical forced induction like NOX, or turbo or super charging.
You can also reduce parasitic losses by using low friction fluids and different pulley sizes or lowering hydro drag.
15 hp is a lot to get by little things, You also need a lot of power to increase you top end speed. It's pretty special to have a tournament style boat that does over 50 mph.

330 hp out of 350 cu.in. is pretty darn good as it is.

I dropped one and a half inches in pitch, and went from a 4 blade to a three on my 330 Black Scorpion. I got better hole shot, and the top end stayed about the same. But as everyone else says, who cares about top end?
If you just want to go fast, a towboat is really not your best choice.
